Urban Grace, The Downtown Church Urban Grace is a downtown church that serves the city and her people by sharing the Good News of God We value our city. We are privileged to have a 50,000 sq. ft.

In downtown Tacoma since 1883, we are an ecumenical congregation that is multicultural, diverse and welcoming to all; we welcome full participation of people regardless of denominational background, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or socio-economic status. Urban Grace hopes to be the open table that Jesus set for all God’s children and offer a nurturing fellowship where it’s safe to wrestle and explore as well as acknowledge the simultaneous joy and pain, blessing and loss of this life. We’re grateful to lean into the truth that we can be “perfectly imperfect” and still be loved, chosen and accepted. We value questions that lie at the foundation of our faith and our lives; often that means pondering these questions, rather than providing quick and certain answers. We value art as means for Gods revelation and as something beautiful in itself. We do this through the use of art in worship, by housing resident artists, and through partnerships with Tacoma arts organizations. We value God’s care for the underserved, the disposed, and the marginalized. We serve those in need through our a weekly breakfast that serves around 300 people every Sunday morning, and through a number of related programs that serve the downtown population. building that we use to host non-profits, fine arts organizations, the Tacoma Farmers market offices, as well as concerts, weddings, and other events that serve our city.

This Saturday, we show up in solidarity.

Join Urban Grace, La Resistencia, and Tsuru for Solidarity outside the Northwest Detention Center as we stand alongside people who are detained and immigrant communities impacted by detention.

Sometimes solidarity is as simple as being present. Come as you are and help us make visible the message: you are not alone.

What can we discover when we slow down and explore scripture together?

This fall, you’re invited to Lessons from the Book of John, a six-part Bible study exploring the life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus through the Gospel of John.

Our series began this past Sunday, but there’s still plenty of time to join us! Our next gathering is Sunday, October 18 from noon–1 PM in Room 208, with additional gatherings continuing through November and December.

Bring a sack lunch and come with your questions, perspectives, and curiosity. You don’t need to have attended the first gathering or be a biblical scholar to join the conversation.

Upcoming gatherings and scripture:
10/4: John 1-3: Introducing Jesus
10/18: John 4-6: The acts of Jesus
11/8: John 7-10: Defending the Messiah
11/15: John 11-13: The act of resurrection
12/6: John 14-17: Jesus prepares for his death
12/13: John 18-21: The trial and death of Jesus
Noon to 1 PM | Room 208

All are welcome.
