Urban Harvest Exchange, formally Food is Free Tacoma. A true mutual aid organization, community supporting community.

Addressing food security by gardening, gleaning, and food rescue. 501c3 EIN 39-3501257 * We grow fresh produce on public and private donated land and strive to distribute it immediately after it’s harvested.

* We share the produce that we grow and harvest with our community at weekly share events in local parks and at our food rescue sites.

* We receive and distribute larger donations of both produce and non-perishable food, mostly from farmers. What are the results so far?

* We have distributed over 2 million pounds of food since 2015, to over 70,000 neighbors.

* The vast majority of the food we distribute is freshly harvested produce. We don’t turn away less-nutritious food, but we are laser focused on providing fresh produce and nutritious food.

* Most of the food we distribute is collected by neighbors in just a couple of hours

I have a collaboration with Annie Wright Schools. Students and parents come to the Farm on the second Sunday of the month for a work party from 12-2. This work party is open to everyone so if you have been wanting to help come to the Farm second Sunday of the month. I can also sign off community service hours for courts, schools, a Rnd snap benefits. Also I will be appearing on Tv Tacoma Cityline tomorrow 10/15/26 at 9am. I'll be demonstrating how to set your garden beds for winter growing. I'll be the last segment around 9:45 so if you get TV Tacoma be sure to tune in. It also gets downloaded to YouTube after the show on TV Tacoma's YouTube page. I'll post the after it's uploaded. I'll also be recording this month's Urban Bounty tomorrow afternoon so watch for it to be available streaming and broadcast on Monday and Friday at 2pm on RadioTacoma 101.9

Tomorrow Wendsday 10/14 the sharing table will be closed from 9:30am to 11:30am. I will be recording a national interview for Kelly's Kitchen. It's being done remotely with the reporter in Washington DC. If you do come by during the interview please remain quiet until the interview is over. Franz Bakery's annual **Spirit of Giving** promotion is here! They're awarding $3,000 each to 20 nonprofit organizations, and we need your nominations!

Urban Harvest Exchange rescues and distributes approximately **5 TONS OF FOOD EVERY WEEK**, making it available FREE through our 24/7 sharing tables at Tacoma Urban Farm.

We also operate community gardens, glean fruit trees, distribute free vegetable starts, and teach people how to grow their own food.

🌱 **By spring 2027, Tacoma Urban Farm will have 42 raised beds!** We desperately need irrigation equipment to keep them growing and producing food for our neighbors.

The RISE Center is very important to Tacoma. They serve 3 hot meals a day in their cafeteria. They go out into the city with hot meals. They provide job training. They have a food bank, clothing bank, and a community fridge. They manage the tiny house village across the street from the center on MLK/23rd. Tacoma needs them. Please support and support.
