Here are five facts about me, Mary, your new Executive Director. 👇
Of course, we have to start with seriousness because I'm professional, right? 😏
✅ I became a mom at 17, and God used that experience to grow me in practical ways. He also used that experience to lead me a woman named Andi who walked me through life and my faith journey.
✅ I am not athletic AT ALL 😅 but I once climbed to the top of Dunns River Falls, but needed help getting past some steep and slippery rocks. Also, I once caught an 8-foot sturgeon 🎣 but needed help to reel it in (so…I am not afraid to ask for help) 💪
✅ I experienced both significant privilege, and then foster care, during my childhood, two very different realities that profoundly shaped every aspect of who I am today, from how I view and treat others, to my commitment to finding and providing resources and equipping, to an abiding knowledge that God is sovereign always and everywhere, even when circumstances make it hard to feel His sovereignty in the moment. ✨
✅ I was the Drug Free Minute Girl in an 📺 ad campaign in San Diego in the 1980's.
✅ I love clothes 👗 but I'm cheap, so one of my favorite activities is thrifting for clothing.
✅ My favorite Bible 📖 verse is Luke 1:37 in the NIV "For no word from God shall ever fail" and all of Psalm 91, taken as a whole (okay that was two, but who only has one? 😂)
My hope for the future of Tacoma YFC is that our community of believers would come together to meet the needs of every kid in the Tacoma Area.
Whether those kids are in school, out of school, teen parents, incarcerated, or living in what looks like privilege. 🙌
That we will see every person as God sees them: Made in HIS image, by Him, on purpose, with purpose, for a purpose.
Also that we will simply LOVE them where they are and have the honor of seeing the Holy Spirit move and grow the seeds that we plant to a beautiful ongoing harvest of new believers, growing believers, supported and nurtured believers. 🌱
We are all God's beloved people.
And I can't wait to connect with each one of you and serve this community well. ❤️
