and loyalty to each other and to the city.

‘The Locks’ is a large-scale communal sculpture integrated into the ‘A’ Street Pedestrian Passageway underpass between south 25th and south 26th streets in Tacoma, Washington. Intended as an inclusive communal pedestrian gathering spot, ‘The Locks’ is an interactive sculptural experience that allows the community to connect with the Dome District in a permanent, personal way. Visitors will be encouraged to bring padlocks and attach them to the mesh. They can make a wish or seal their love on the sculpture. There will also be several events in where participants will be supplied with a lock to decorate and personalize with their own vibrant colors and intentions. Above the installation trains will rumble by to far off destinations. Legend holds that the magnetic field generated by passing trains will cause energy to accumulate in the locks and fulfill the wishes. Come and be a part of the magic.
