Join us for a guided walk from Downtown to the Thea Foss Waterway to see urban forestry in action. We’ll explore how trees are managed in the downtown landscape and why they’re so critical for filtering stormwater runoff before it hits the bay.

The Details:
📍Meeting point: Naomi Joe Coffee Roasters to get acquainted and tasty drinks
🚶Your guides: CHB Board Member Barry Goldstein and Tacoma Tree Foundation Executive Director Lowell Wyse
🌲The route: Approximately two miles on pavement (including steep streets and stairs)
☀️ What to wear: PNW summer layers, sun protection and walking shoes

Had the incredible opportunity for our whole staff to watch transient orcas make their way through Commencement Bay and South Puget Sound. 🐋

As they passed through on the hunt, we got to take a moment together to pause, watch, and reground ourselves in why environmental protection work matters so much.

Clean water, clean air, and healthy lands don’t just sustain incredible wildlife like this, they sustain all of us. A healthy environment means healthier, happier communities, and moments like this are a pretty special reminder of exactly what we’re working to protect. 🌊

We’re headed back on the water! Join us for our next Youth Kayaking Tours on Saturday, May 30, Sunday, May 31, or Saturday, June 13. These FREE programs are open to ages 12–17 and includes all gear, instruction, and lunch.
