The TPCAR Advocacy Team has an important update for October! GA Lobbyist Jim Henderson provided the following quote:

"TPCAR’s advocacy work has been busy this month, from Tacoma Planning Commission discussions on tree policy to a proposed business license fee increase and the City’s estimated $40–$50 million budget deficit. We are developing a policy proposal to allow third-party permit review, including how AI could help improve application quality and reduce delays. Our Government Affairs Committee also received a presentation from Pierce Transit regarding a proposed
voter-approved tax rate increase. Our focus remains on practical, accountable policies that support housing, protect property rights, and strengthen our community."

We are so proud to announce that TPCAR leadership has been appointed to NAR committees in 2027!

Congratulations to 2026 TPCAR President , who will serve as a Member: State Representative [Washington] on the 2027 RPAC Participation Council!

Congratulations as well to TPCAR Association Executive Sean Martin, who will serve as the AEC representative for the 2027 NAR State and Local Issues Policy Committee.

TPCAR prides itself on advocating for local members at all three levels, including the national level. Stay tuned for updates through 2027 from Sean and Jenah from these NAR committees!

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is requesting approval from the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC) for significant electricity and natural gas rate increases over the next three years.

Per UTC figures published September 9, 2026, PSE is proposing annual rate increases that would compound to approximately 29% for electricity and 20% for natural gas by 2029. These proposed increases would add approximately $870 per year in expenses for a typical household receiving both services, including $600 more for electricity alone.

TPCAR encourages members to share their experiences and perspectives with the Commission as it evaluates the proposed increases.
