Eric Kleser — from Vancouver, Wash. — devoted 21 years of honorable service to the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant in 2021.

Not too sure of his next steps, he moved to Boston with his soon-to-be wife and enrolled at Suffolk University’s sports management program. At that school, a professor referred him to the USGA Pathways Discover Program, an annual 10-day internship centered around the U.S. Open, held this year at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in New York.

It made for a tremendous experience of what opportunities are consistently available for golf and sports industry professionals.
