Meet the organizers & founders of the Hoppy Holiday Food Drive: Douville Home Group !

We’re John & Catie Douville, local realtors, craft-beer lovers 🍺, and the team behind all things Hoppy Holiday. We coordinate with our amazing breweries & cideries, create & run all of the media💻, and handle weigh-in and pick-up 💪. If you’ve followed along, you’ve probably seen us behind the mic 🎤, dropping off posters & donation boxes 🚗, or enjoying a pint on the tour 🍻.

👨‍👩‍👧 When we’re not organizing the drive, we’re out enjoying Tacoma eats 🌮, walking our neighborhood, or spending time with our daughter, Fiona. We’re a hands-on family, running our business 🏠, fixing up our home 🔨, and cooking for the people we love 😋. Being part of this community means everything to us.

🍻🥫 Hoppy Holiday was dreamed up in 2018 over a cold beer at Peaks & Pints. After wrapping up our office food drive, we were talking about how we wanted to do more, and Tacoma’s brewery scene felt like the perfect spark. With help from our friend Ron at Peaks, the very first Hoppy Holiday launched in 2019 with five breweries. Today, it’s grown to TWELVE breweries and cideries across Pierce County!

🍽️ Last year alone, our community brought in 28,000+ pounds of food for Emergency Food Network, that's a whole lot of meals for our neighbors. We’re so grateful for the heart and hustle of our brewery and cidery partners, and we can hardly believe we’re celebrating year 7. None of this happens without them — or without you.

The twelfth and final stop on our Hoppy Holiday Tour, our newest brewery: Evergreen State Brewing Co.! 🌲🍻

With taprooms in Tacoma (Dock Street) and Gig Harbor (Harborview Drive), Evergreen serves up woodsy vibes, waterfront views, and some seriously delicious brews.

🍺 Catie stopped by the Dock Street taproom with her brother Tom for a full flavor tour. She kicked things off with a crisp Loowit Pale and wrapped with their top-selling Dead Man’s IPA — beautifully balanced with a floral hop finish. Tom went malt-forward with the Harry Henderson Brown Ale and the 29 Tribes Red, brewed in support of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women initiative. ❤️

🍖 And if you’re hungry? We Be Smok’n BBQ is serving mouthwatering BBQ right inside the Tacoma taproom. The sampler platter was the only correct choice: juicy, flavorful chicken, perfectly smoked ribs, saucy pulled pork (Catie’s fave), and collard greens that Tom devoured in seconds.

✨ Both locations offer great views, spots to cheer on local teams, and a calendar full of live music, paint-n-pours, and festive community fun. Evergreen knows how to have a good time!

The eleventh stop on our Hoppy Holiday Food Drive 2025 Tour: Incline Cider House ! 🍏💛

Tucked right into Tacoma’s Downtown Brewery Blocks, Incline Cider House is a cozy, welcoming taproom pouring a wide range of delicious ciders.

🍎 Catie brought along her BFF Kim for this visit, and they kicked things off with a true “opposites attract” moment — Catie finally snagged her long-awaited hot mulled cider while Kim went full festive with the Pumpkin Pie Slushie. Both? A solid 10/10. And since ’tis the season, a holiday flight was a must! From dry yuletide spice to bright cranberry goodness, every pour was tasty. (Oh — and don’t sleep on the classic Bears Hazy!)

🥪 Outside food is welcome, but Incline’s snack menu is worth a look. Kim went for the warm pretzel while Catie dove into the Jamwich — toasted ciabatta layered with prosciutto, spiced raspberry jam, and goat cheese.

✨ Incline knows how to have fun, too! They regularly host craft nights, cider pairing events, and seasonal flavor releases. But their biggest night of all? Thursday Trivia! With rotating festive themes, prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 2nd to last, this free weekly event is an absolute blast!

The tenth stop on our Hoppy Holiday Tour: Narrows Brewing ! 🐙🍻

You can soak up waterfront views at Narrows down in the Marina or get cozy at their brand-new Proctor taproom — and this time, cozy won!

🍺 John linked up with our neighbor-friend Brady and even shared a drink with head brewer & owner, Parker. The lineup? A crisp Narrows Light Lager, the Proctor Hazy Pale, and the holiday staple Griswold IPA. Narrows is all about making “Damn Drinkable Beer,” and clearly it’s working — they snagged Best Brewery 2025 in Best of Pierce County!

🥪 Both locations keep things tasty with rotating local food trucks. Burgers, tacos, pizza — check their calendar and show up hungry. John lucked out with Taco’s Mirrey this round, and Proctor’s got bonus charcuterie boards loaded with cheeses and cured salamis. 😋

✨ Each taproom brings the fun with Co-op Trivia, One-Off Wednesdays (collect stamps, earn beers!), and Music Bingo. Just a heads-up: if it's 80’s music night, John plays to win. 😉

✨ Let’s take a minute to spotlight our amazing host for Hoppy Holiday Food Drive 2025: Peaks and Pints ! 🏔️ 🍻

Peaks & Pints is a true Tacoma staple. Since opening in 2016, they’ve been serving up a carefully curated tap list, incredible handcrafted sandwiches, and a welcoming vibe for anyone who walks through the door.

🍺 With 28 taps and a cooler stacked with more than 800 craft bottles and cans, you’re guaranteed to find something perfect to sip (including cider and wine!). We’re loving their current house beer, Cut Off Flannel IPA—a crisp West Coast IPA collab with Lumberbeard. You’ll always find Vitamin R on draft, plus everything from sours to stouts to keep every kind of beer lover happy.

🥪 And the sandwiches? Absolutely legendary. John swears by the Reuben with thinly sliced brisket pastrami, creamy Havarti, sauerkraut, and house-made 1000 on marbled rye. Catie goes for the smoked salmon BLT with herbed mayo on French bread—peak PNW goodness.

🤝 Peaks is deeply connected to the beer community, hosting brewery nights, beer competitions, fundraisers, collab parties, and more. They’re also home to the Grit and Grain podcast! 🎙️

Peaks has been part of the Hoppy Holiday Food Drive since the very beginning. What started as a friendly chat at the bar with Ron seven years ago has grown into an annual celebration that’s raised thousands of pounds of food for our Pierce County neighbors. We’re endlessly grateful for their generosity and heart. 💚

The seventh stop on our Hoppy Holiday Food Drive 2025 Tour: Cockrell Hard Cider 🍎🐓

You’ll find Cockrell’s crisp, refreshing ciders at The Roost, their tasting room tucked right into the orchard in Puyallup.

🍏 We both love a dry pour, and the Bone Dry hits the mark. We also ventured into the semi-sweet territory -- Catie with the slight tannic Blackberry, while John leaned into the full flavor of the American Heirloom. Cockrell is always rolling out new creations, so keep an eye on their seasonal releases online!

🍛 The Roost hosts a rotating weekly lineup out front. We grabbed Pad Thai and Panang Curry from Thaim to Roll, but you’ll often find pizza, tacos, burgers, and even scallops. Cockrell posts their truck schedule each week, so you can plan your snack strategy.

✨ With plenty of space to mingle, jam, and play, there’s always something happening—cozy firepits, a lawn perfect for their concert series, and indoor quiz nights that keep things lively. Grab a cider and settle in—Cockrell makes it easy to stay awhile!

The ninth stop on our Hoppy Holiday Tour: E9 Brewing Co. ! 🚒🍻

E9 Brewing is a true Brewery District staple, housed in the old Tacoma Radiator & Fender Works—with an additional family-friendly spot right on bustling 6th Ave.

🍺 We sampled a little bit of everything, and a few standouts stole the show. Catie fell for the Blue Nectar blended sour, while John couldn’t get enough of the Tiny Sword super dry-hopped Hazy. And we have to give an honorable mention to My Fishing Buddy, a crisp dry-hopped lager. 🎣

🥪 E9’s hand-thrown pizzas are crafted with care, all the way down to the Tacoma Wild beer yeast. We even strayed from our usual Brussel Salad and The Radiator pizza (shocking, we know). This time, the jalapeño-gouda Nachos with house-made chorizo and The Pizza That Has No Name—loaded with goat cheese, roasted shish*tos, bacon, and lavender-infused Calabrian chili honey—won us over. Maybe it’s nameless because the flavor left them speechless! 😲

✨ E9 has a separate family-friendly location on 6th Ave! While E9 Firehouse serves up the same tasty brews, they also offer delicious burgers, deep dish pizzas, tots, and an all-day happy hour every Monday. 🍻🍔🎉

The eighth stop on our Hoppy Holiday Food Drive 2025 Tour: 7 Seas Brewing ! 💙🍻

Right in the heart of the Brewery District, you’ll find 7Seas in the historic Heidelberg Building. That huge blue beacon of beer? Yep, that’s them.

🍺 We kept it classic with a juicy unfiltered W***y Maze Haze and a crisp dry Brut IPA. However, they offer an array of beers (check the seasonal sour!), N/A beverages, and rotating WA wines & ciders. John finished the night with an “obligatory" Heidelberg but we all know he just wanted another.

🍔 7Seas is also home to Colvos Canteen! The smash burger with sweet potato fries is always a win, and the Mediterranean Salad hits the spot too. Bonus: plenty of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

✨ The Tacoma taproom is massive and full of energy — it’s where the brewing happens and where the community hangs out. Not only do they offer pinball & shuffle board, you'll find the Brewery Makers Markets, trivia nights, and the occasional birthday bash happening somewhere in the mix. Last night was an incredible evening of celebration and seeing exactly what our community can do ❤️🍺🥫

The Hoppy Holiday Food Drive brought in a whopping, ✨28,523lbs✨ of food for Emergency Food Network!Through these generous donations, EFN will be able to provide thousands of meals for our Pierce County neighbors 💚 🍽️. Wahoo!

This was all done through the efforts of our ten breweries and cideries, their incredible patrons, our friends and family, and of course the good people at Peaks and Pints!
