The Gleaning Project is hiring a team of seasonal Harvest Leaders and Fruit Tree Assessors for the 2025 season!⁠
⁠
These positions run from June through September, with compensation including an hourly wage of $17/hr and mileage reimbursement.⁠
⁠
Harvest Leaders: Responsible for leading volunteers in fruit harvests around the county, and assuring produce gets dropped off to local hunger relief organizations and collaborators. Harvest Leaders are also able to take home a portion of the fresh harvest. ⁠
⁠
Fruit Tree Assessors: Responsible for assessing fruit bearing plants for pest and disease issues, documentation and providing recommendations for mitigation at each site. We offer an in-depth education in fruit-specific pest and disease identification.⁠

We like to share what we'll be offering ahead of time so that folks can meal plan. Maybe some of the produce we're offering this week is already on your shopping list? We love it when we can help your dollar stretch further and prevent food waste all at the same time.

Big news! Food is Free Washington is now Evergreen Produce Connection

This new name reflects our deepening focus on fresh, local produce and strong, trust-based partnerships that bring healthy food directly into communities across Pierce County.

We're also thrilled to announce a new partnership with The Farm at Franklin Pierce Schools —working together to expand access to fresh, locally grown food and strengthen our community-powered hunger relief network.

As part of this transition, we’ll be phasing out the Food is Free Washington profile at the end of June. Be sure to follow us at Evergreen Produce Connection to stay updated on pop-up sites, and volunteer opportunities.

New name, same mission. More fresh food. More connection.
