Your past, present & future presidents of TPCBA & infinity bars gathered for a WSBA leadership summit on how to engage with members. One of the focuses was health and wellness. Did you know WSBA lost 55 members to su*cide in a five year period? That 26% of bar members report issues with alcohol, that judges fear for their lives, and burnout rate is high. That’s where connection with a local bar & your community is vital. We are looking forward to connecting with you more. Reach out / talk / listen. We see you.

Today COA- Division II - remembered one of their esteemed colleagues. Many retired and current members of the judiciary attended, including Judge Bryan, Justice Johnson, Justice Gordon McCloud and others.

He was remembered for his love of working with bright law clerks, for his steady humor, and wit, and that he was also a darn fine trial lawyer. Here is an example from a story he wrote years ago & reminds us that at some point, we all chased the law for one reason or another: “I realized that all I knew about lawyers was that they tried cases – exciting cases about beautiful women and big money and vice versa. A vision of my future was lining itself in my mind; a glamorous, sharp-witted Della Street by my side; a Paul Drake sauntering into the courtroom after a quick flight to Las Vegas, trailing a gaggle of surprise witnesses; and I, with a rapier tongue, carving the opposing witnesses into bite-sized pieces before a hopelessly befuddled adversary. All I needed was a few more weeks of training….”

The Young Lawyers are still in need of sponsors for their annual formal event June 5th. Last week I was able to host this amazing group of young lawyers & heard firsthand their enthusiasm for the law and their hope to build and support their group. Their practice areas span from immigration, criminal law, family, personal injury, and T & E. If you would like to become a sponsor, please reach out directly to Michelle Luna - [email protected] or Chris Walsh [email protected]
