📣 Speaker Announcement: 2026 Walk for Reconciliation Against Racism

We're honored to welcome Jonathan Johnson, Former President of the Tacoma Chapter NAACP as a keynote speaker at this year's Walk for Reconciliation Against Racism!

Thank you, Jonathan, for your leadership and your commitment to justice in our community. We can't wait to hear your remarks during the Closing Ceremony of the event.

🚶 Walk begins by 10:45 AM, near Union Station (1717 Pacific Ave)
🕛 Closing Ceremony at 12:00 PM, Chinese Reconciliation Park (1741 N Schuster Pkwy)

Join us for the 141st anniversary of the Tacoma Chinese expulsion. This free event retraces and reverses the route of the 1885 expulsion, reclaiming our city for all peoples and cultures. A shuttle service will assist attendees unable to participate in the act of walking the 3 mile route. Join us in solidarity at the 2026 Walk for Reconciliation Against Racism on Saturday, October 24th!

The annual demonstration retraces and reverses the walking path of expulsion forced on Tacoma’s Chinese American population in 1885, reclaiming the City for all peoples and cultures. This year, we are partnering with the State History Museum to host our kick-off ceremony in their Mt. Tahoma Auditorium.

Today is the day! Join us at the 14th Annual Tacoma Moon Festival down at the Chinese Reconciliation Park.

Performances start at 1 PM with a Lion Dance and conclude at 6 PM with our Lantern Parade, lead by our wonderful Moon Princess.

Why do we host the Tacoma Moon Festival every year?

Because the Moon Festival is one of the few times all year that so many of Tacoma's cultures and communities share the same stage. Not side by side. Together. 🌕

From lion dancers to taiko drummers, from food truck families to community leaders, the annual Moon Festival is a reminder that Tacoma's strength has always been its people, together.

One Moon, One People, One World. ✨

Since 2024, we have been honored to partner with to host their New Citizen Welcoming Ceremony on the Main Stage of our Tacoma Moon Festival.

For so many of our neighbors, becoming a U.S. citizen is the culmination of years of hard work, patience, and hope. We believe that moment deserves to be celebrated not just privately, but by an entire community standing behind them.

This tradition is a reminder of what the Tacoma Moon Festival is really about: connection, community, and building a City where everyone feels they belong.

We hope you will join us this year to welcome our newest citizens with open arms.

Join us for the 14th Annual Tacoma Moon Festival on Saturday, September 12th! This free, family-friendly celebration honors Tacoma's diverse immigrant heritage with lion dancers, live music and dance from around the world, food trucks, craft vendors, activity boothes, and a magical lantern parade finale led by the Moon Princess. 🏮
