Caring for our environment is a responsibility we all share, and this April presents a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact right in our own backyard!

Scouting America’s Scouting for Clean Waterways initiative highlights the importance of protecting our natural resources, and locally, we have a chance to take action. Each year, the Big Sioux River Cleanup takes place around Earth Day (April 22), bringing communities together to improve the health of our waterways.

This year, the event is called "Party for the Planet: Big Sioux River Cleanup" and is organized in partnership with Friends of the Big Sioux River and The Outdoor Campus. The cleanup will take place on April 26 at multiple locations, including Sertoma Park, Brandon, Canton, and Watertown.

Are you ready to dive into an exciting opportunity that can set you up for a lifetime of adventure—and even a summer job?

The Sioux Council is offering 3-4 motivated Scouts the chance to get Red Cross-certified as a lifeguard at no cost! Just complete the course, volunteer 4 days at Lewis & Clark Scout Reservation, and we’ll reimburse your certification.

Available Dates: June 6-7, 20-21, 30 - July 2, July 11-12, 25-26, 29-31, August 1. More days available if interested!

Now Hiring: Part-Time Waterfront Director!

Looking for an amazing summer job on the water and in the sun? Lewis & Clark Scout Reservation is hiring a part-time Waterfront Director for the 2025 summer season!

📍 Location: Lewis & Clark Scout Reservation
🔹 Must be 21 years or older
⏳ Time Commitment:

Two weekends in June & two in July (Fri & Sat)
Two mid-week sessions (Tues – Thurs) – one in July & one in August
A few additional dates throughout the summer (totaling no more than 15 days)
Must attend a week-long camp school training in May (paid training)
💰 Paid position – No prior Scouting experience required!
