Flip Side Sanctuary

Flip Side Sanctuary Providing a safe haven for abused and neglected animals. Tabor City, NC We have been rescuing animals for many years. Follow us on our journey!

We are a 501c3 animal sanctuary incorporated in 2015 for abused abandoned and neglected animals. Our focus is mainly farmed animals but we also see the need to help rescue the dogs and cats of our community, spaying and neutering, getting vet care and adopting them out to loving homes. Cindy Holm has been a licensed Vet Tech for over 20 years. Gregg works as a carpenter/welder and is able to build

the animals whatever they need and is also experienced in animal care from the 25 years of living and working together. We care for abused, abandoned, and neglected animals. We convey a different way of seeing them, as individuals, each having a very different personality. We help them to have a voice to tell their stories and to help stop the suffering.

Caught a quiet moment with Ellie. 💤 She’s our independent soul, often wandering off away from the others to find her own perfect, peaceful spots. Today, she picked a cool, damp nook right on the edge of the wallow.

She wasn't the least bit bothered by us walking up—just gave us a sleepy look and kept right on drifting off. Watch closely at the end and you can see her snout moving gently with every breath as she struggles to keep her eyes open. Absolute bliss. 🐽❤️

Look at these hooligans. 🤨🐐

Who do you think they spotted passing through their yard?

Hint: A certain someone who is currently right in the middle of a multi-stage grooming session!

Leave your guesses in the comments. 👇

P.S. Stay tuned for the big reveal! We are taking our time and letting her set the pace, so the final look will drop just as soon as she's ready.

Dolly (or Dahlia, as we’ve been calling her lately because it just seems to suit her better) seems to be very suspicious of us.

She knows exactly what’s coming. We started her annual shearing a couple of weeks ago, but because of her neurological issues, we can’t do it all at once. To keep her completely safe, comfortable, and stress-free, we take our time and do it in small, manageable stages.

She might only be a quarter sheared right now, but she still hasn't lost an ounce of her usual attitude.

Happy Friday, everyone. We hope you’re having a lovely start to the weekend.

If your week has been a tough one, we hope Carly’s sweet face brings a little bit of comfort and a smile to your afternoon. If your Friday is already going great—well, we are certain it just got a whole lot better.

That feeling when you make it through the first day back from a long holiday weekend... and then remember it’s already Tuesday night, so the week is halfway gone.

Boop is perfectly channeling that "one less day until the weekend" victory.

The big secret is out: Ivy is officially a Toadling! 🐸✨

Ivy was dumped at a shelter by her previous owners, who had fed her to the point of being fat-blind. She was left there with two tortoises who ended up being adopted out without her, leaving her completely alone. While she’s been sharing space with Betty and our tortoises here, we had to wait until she regained her sight before we could safely introduce her to the other pigs.

Now she can see, the introductions are complete, and she is thriving while getting tons of exercise across three big yards!

Of course, moving in means establishing the roommate dynamic. The official herd hierarchy has been settled:

1️⃣ Ramona: Indisputably the boss.

2️⃣ Piccolo: Comfortably at number two.

3️⃣ Ivy: Holding her own at number three!

4️⃣ Toad: Bringing up the rear... mostly because he screams and runs away the second anyone challenges him! 😂

But the absolute best part of this new chapter? Betty the turkey has found her purpose again. Since losing Milton, she was lost—but now, she has declared herself the Ultimate Protector of the yard. She keeps a fierce, serious watch over the pigs, the tortoises, and the whole crew while they graze.

Ramona's in on the secret too.🤫 Stay tuned.
