⚠️ Fire Danger is now MODERATE in Grand County.

What does “Moderate” actually mean?

Starts: Fires can start easily from accidental causes (like a stray spark or unextinguished cigarette).

Spread: In dry grasslands, fire can move fast—especially on windy days.

Control: While these fires are usually easier to control, they can still burn hot in heavy brush.

Remember to always ensure campfires are dead out (cold to the touch!) before leaving.

At its core, the Fireshed mission supports proactive forest management, recognizing that thoughtful action today leads to stronger, healthier forests over time.
