The Pinelands Research Institute at Pine Tree Center is a science-based field station in the Pine Barrens of Southern New Jersey. Launched in early 2025, the Institute is an initiative of the Pinelands Alliance. The Institute’s mission is to be a center for scientists, educators, naturalists, and the public to generate knowledge and understanding of the unique forested ecosystem that is the New Je

rsey Pine Barrens and the forest conservation area of the New Jersey Pinelands regional land use planning system. The Pine Tree Center is the home of the Institute and a center for nature-based recreation and environmental education. The Pine Tree Center consists of 162 acres of upland and wetlands forests, buildings for classes, gatherings and overnight accommodation, and campsites. The Center adjoins the 122,000-acre Wharton State Forest and connects to a network of several hundred thousand acres of preserved lands.

"Feedback is a gift" as the saying goes. We ask our younger campers to draw pictures of their favorite part of camp. BBs, Archery (RJRE = archery), and swimming reign supreme. (Kudos to the Scout who liked everything.) For parent volunteers, on the written surveys, for their favorite part we get responses like: "watching my son make new friends", "seeing the kids learn new skills and have a sense of accomplishment", and "lunch, because I can finally sit down from such a busy day.🙂" Thank you to every person who has ever volunteered at camp. You changed our lives and imagine how many other lives you touched along the way.

Happy Earth Day! We started doing EcoArt at camp the last few years. (EcoArt or ecological art is when we take natural materials to make works of art.) Today looks beautiful so why not go out and make some Eco-Art and post your picture here!
