The numbers are in, and between our bake sale at Green Planet in September, and the raffles, stein and pumpkin sales at Vegtoberfest last weekend, we raised $890 for the rescued farm animals at Briarwood Farm Sanctuary! Thank you to everyone who generously baked treats or donated a raffle prize, thank you to PAR for sponsoring the steins, and thank you to everyone who participated in our sales and raffles!

Wow, yesterday’s Vegtoberfest was a fun and festive blur! The Syracuse Veg Collective would like to thank for being such a fabulous host for our event! Thank you to for the gorgeous live music! Thanks to the hosts of (Christine for hosting Oktoberfest trivia, and Sam for her perfect pronunciation of German, and willingness to tear around the tables without a mic, for hosting the German spelling bee)! Thanks to Lori Pinzer of for joining us to talk about the wonderful work your sanctuary does on behalf of rescued farm animals. Thanks to all of our incredible vendors—you brought amazing food, beautiful crafts, delightful autumnal displays, great community organizational information and more to the festival! Thank you to our sponsors, , , and Red Robin Design! Thank you to our enthusiastic, tireless volunteers for all your help setting up, helping vendors put up tents, face painting, pumpkin paunying, running raffles, cleaning up and more! There are many wonderful farm sanctuaries out there, and we recently learned there was some confusion regarding which farm sanctuary will receive proceeds from Vegtoberfest. To clarify, funds will be donated to Briarwood Farm Sanctuary, located in Weedsport, a safe haven for rescued farm animals. 💚

If you're craving some authentic German Oktoberfest food, Aurora's Cafe and Gifts is bringing it with their special Vegtoberfest menu:

Kartoffelsalat- German Potato Salad

Käsespätzle- Mac and cheese with meatballs in a traditional German mushroom gravy, topped with crispy onions

Soft, chewy pretzels are an Oktoberfest staple, and Toss & Fire Wood-Fired Pizza, located inside Harvey’s Garden, bakes up some of the tastiest pretzels around! In addition to pretzels with mustard or marinara, Toss & Fire offers PMA vegan mozzarella as an option for their pizzas…we hear they’re even concocting a fun, Oktoberfest-themed vegan pizza for Saturday’s menu!
