Kesem is a diverse community led by passionate and empathetic college students working to ensure that children facing the challenges of a parentโs cancer have space, connection, and support to rediscover the joys of childhood. Our mission is to support children through and beyond their parentโs cancer with free, fun-filled creative programs and a lasting community. Syracuse was founded in 2014 and supports children in the Syracuse area community by providing Camp Kesem, a free week-long summer camp experience, and year-round Through and Beyond support services. Our chapter is operated by 50 student volunteers and serves 60 campers ages 6-18 per year. Its programs and services are all funded by generous donations from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners. Kesem is a federally registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
