Northeast Dairy Suppliers Association, Inc. Announces $14,000 Awarded in Annual Bruce W. Krupke Memorial Scholarships

North Syracuse, NY - Northeast Dairy Suppliers Association, Inc. (NDSA) has announced 11 scholarship recipients to college students to receive the Bruce W. Krupke Memorial Scholarship for the 2021-22 academic year totaling $14,000. This year’s Bruce W. Krupke Memorial Scholarship recipients are;

• Hannah Boyd, Pittsburgh, PA, University of Pittsburgh
• Jennifer Carl, Cicero, NY, St. John Fisher College
• Justin Carlson, Essex Junction, VT, University of Vermont
• Kelsey Delaney, Schenectady, NY, Union College
• Brandi Himes, York, PA, Lebanon Valley College
• Ian Michael McHugh, Killingworth, CT, University of Vermont
• Matthew Osterhaudt, Manlius, NY, Le Moyne College
• Samantha Palmatier, Hobart, NY, SUNY Purchase
• Coltin John Pflipsen, Willmar, MN, Alexaria Technical Community College
• Sydney Reppi, Wolcott, NY, St. John Fisher College
• Taylor Schofield, Pavilion, NY, Rochester Institute of Technology

Each year, Northeast Dairy Suppliers Association board of directors dedicates the scholarship to Bruce W. Krupke. Bruce served as Executive Vice President of Northeast Dairy Foods Association and Northeast Dairy Suppliers Association for 27 years before passing away in March 2020.

“We received many outstanding applications again this year and it was a long and challenging process for the Scholarship Committee to narrow it down based on the quality of this year’s applicants,” said Bill Elliott, President of the Board of Directors. “Northeast Dairy Suppliers Association is honored to be able to provide this scholarship to students who are pursuing their goals and dreams. Congratulations to all of the recipients!”
Applicants must be an immediate family member of a current NDSA or Northeast Dairy Foods Association, Inc. member company, or a Student Member of NDSA, enrolled for the 2021-22 academic year as a full-time undergraduate or trade school student, and have a GPA of 2.50 or greater to be eligible.

Scholarship information is made available each year after February 1st with applications and criteria can be found on the association’s website at www.neastda.org. Funding for the scholarships come directly from the association’s annual dairy industry clambake, members’ dues supporting the association, and sponsorship of annual dairy industry events to help fund the scholarships each year.

The 2021 Northeast Dairy Convention is August 18-20! This year's speakers include Ed Gallagher, President of Risk Management for Dairy Farmers of America, New York State Senator Michelle Hinchey, Chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee, and Jennifer Trodden, Deputy Commissioner of New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets. In addition, there will be enhanced networking and social activities for all attendees.

The 2021 Annual Bruce W. Krupke Memorial Golf Tournament and Clambake was a huge success! This year there were 175 golfers and nearly 700 people at the clambake. Each year, this is a great opportunity for networking with dairy processors, manufacturers, distributors and suppliers in the northeast. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

The 2021 Plant Tour was a huge success! There was a tremendous turnout from NDSA members to tour the Byrne Hollow Farm facility, and hear from Byrne Dairy employees about the plant and the company's operations.
