🔎 New Early View research from Sociological Inquiry

What happens when a widely debated relationship between legalized abortion and crime is reconsidered specifically through female experiences?

Nora H. Lannert’s new article, “Family Instability and Female Justice System Involvement: Reinterpreting the Impact of Legalized Abortion on Crime,” examines whether early-life family environments may shape male and female justice system involvement differently.

The findings question whether aggregate conclusions about abortion legalization and crime hold when accounting for s*x and underscore the value of intersectional approaches to understanding pathways into the justice system.

📖 What helps explain differences in Eucharistic belief among American Catholics?

A new study from Brad Vermurlen, Mark Regnerus, and Anne Morse finds that belief in the Real Presence remains at approximately three-in-ten. Differences in belief were associated primarily with religious commitment, particularly service attendance and the subjective importance of faith, rather than most demographic or political characteristics.
