The Wawasee community mourns the loss of Mrs. Amy Miller, a devoted educator, mentor, coach, and leader who dedicated her life to serving the students of Wawasee. Through her work as an English teacher, department chair, volleyball coach, and organizer of countless school traditions, she impacted generations of students both inside and outside the classroom.

Mrs. Miller had a unique ability to challenge students to think critically, work through adversity with patience, and strive for excellence. Her influence extended far beyond academics, helping shape the confidence and character of so many young people throughout her career.

Her roots in Wawasee ran deep. Following in the footsteps of her father, Hal Trout, who also served as a teacher at Wawasee, Amy continued a family legacy of investing in this community and its students.

Outside of school, she was known for her love of family, friends, music, travel, and bringing people together. Whether planning prom and graduation, coaching athletics, or simply encouraging those around her, she gave her time and energy generously.

“A teacher’s influence never truly ends. It lives on in the lives they helped shape.”

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Jeff, Makinsey, Kayla, and the entire Trout and Miller families. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time, and we are grateful for the lasting legacy Mrs. Miller leaves behind at Wawasee and throughout our community.
