What a week! Synergy 2026 is officially underway, and the energy is nothing short of extraordinary!

Mercy Works is incredibly grateful to Ms. Gwen Battle; Jan Starkey; Narrative Ethnographer & Anthropologist, Jeannie Smith; Dr. Tanya Eastman; Dr. Cynthia Thomas; Walter Walker of Constant Hustle; and Lisa Marie for delivering transformative workshops that went far beyond preparation for the season and move them into longterm success!

A special thank you to Mayor Sharon Owens for an authentic, inspiring, and thought-provoking conversation that challenged our Synergy scholars and Onondaga Earth Corps Crew Leaders to lead with purpose and envision their role in shaping the future of our city.

Our scholars are poised to maximize their internship experiences, strengthen community connections, and drive meaningful change across Syracuse through innovative community outreach initiatives. We cannot wait to see what this outstanding group accomplishes!

This past week, we culminated the ten-week paid internship and professional development (Synergy Internship) run by Mercy Works at the Vision Center, 1221 Salina Street, Syracuse, with a beautiful and memorable graduation. No amount of time prepares you for this moment; it is always surreal, and this year's own was no exception. It was amazing to witness, first-hand, the growth that these series of training and workshops, coupled with the genuine community bond have forced out of them. They are the real deal! The change makers!

This would not have been possible without the amazing support from our donors, our director, the board, and you!
