Hello Central New York,
Around this time for the past 10 years I would be experiencing a tremendous amount of excitement, pressure, stress, and gratefulness as we got ready for the Miss Central New York Scholarship Pageant.
After creating, directing, producing, and funding the Miss Central New York Scholarship Pageant, this has been a difficult decision, but the show will not go on this year.
The Pageant is not really over. The changes that Iβve seen in so many young women who have participated, are changes that will continue through their lives and the lives of those they touch.
The Miss Central New York Scholarship Pageant has always been about far more than just a Pageant. It is about empowering young women to make positive changes in themselves and their communities. Itβs been about supporting young women as they make their path in life, whether in college, in service, or in the workplace. They are strong, they are brave, they are the leaders of the future.
Now I feel it is the right time for me to move on. I have a curiosity to pursue new and different things, and offer new things to the world.
I especially want to thank my daughter, Mojeh, who has been there for the entire journey. I could not have done it without you! Thank you so much to my husband, who has believed in me and the Pageant. Thank you to everyone that I collaborated with over the past 10 years. You have never gotten enough credit.
Iβve had so many rewarding experiences with meeting extraordinary, outstanding student contestants here in the Central New York area.
My prayer is that the seeds we have planted will continue to flower with bright brilliant colors and the sweet fragrance of peace, boldness, and wellbeing.
Mia Adams McSherry,
Pageant Founder and Director.
