“Ever since being diagnosed with a rare heart condition, I’ve had to relearn who I am and what my purpose looks like. College didn’t unfold the way I anticipated; I had to navigate a completely new path and reinvent myself in more ways than one. It was overwhelming, and I was terrified. But in the middle of that uncertainty, I found Alpha Phi, and it has given me more strength and purpose than I could’ve imagined. Because of Alpha Phi and the strength I’ve found through this journey, I am not defined by my diagnosis, but I am driven by it.”

“When I first came to Syracuse, I had never experienced issues with my heart health or was even aware of how many women heart disease affects. The summer of my freshman year, this completely changed. I was diagnosed with an extremely rare tumor that required emergency open heart surgery. It was a miracle my doctors were able to find it and I could return to school only weeks later. This past summer, I had my second open heart surgery and each day I’m so grateful to be in good health. For me, Alpha Phi has given me so much support and the means to make a difference by speaking at Red Dress Gala and serving as the past Co-Director of Philanthropy. Alpha Phi’s philanthropy felt truly full circle for me, I feel like I was meant to be in this house.”

“Coming to Syracuse was a huge adjustment for me. I had a brother and a sister who also went to Syracuse, and hearing about their experience at Syracuse made me so excited to start my own journey here. They always talked about the friendships they built, the memories they made, and how quickly campus began to feel like home. Because of that, I came in with really high expectations and thought the transition would be easy.

At first, though, it wasn’t what I expected. Being on my own without my family was very challenging for me, and I really struggled to find my people.

The second I joined Alpha Phi, I knew it was the place for me. Syracuse finally felt like home to me, and the girls I have met in this sorority have changed my life for the better. I have formed so many genuine friendships, built a strong support system, and created my own path separate from my siblings.

I want to give a shoutout to my amazing and perfect fam! , I have absolutely no idea what I’m going to do without you next year, but you are the kindest, most beautiful girl inside and out, and I am so thankful for our friendship. And to my little , when I met you last year during the philanthropy round of recruitment, I knew we were going to be big and little right away. Your energy lights up every room you walk into, and your kindness and positivity are impossible to miss. My amazing fam, I love you both more than anything. ❤️❤️❤️

Of course, a special shoutout to my best friend — thank you for standing by my side through every high and low, and for being the person who made Syracuse truly feel like home. I love you more than words can even begin to explain. This is a friendship that will last forever. Lastly I wanna give a final shoutout to 3TC you guys have shaped me into the person I am today. I am endlessly grateful for each of you and the bond we share. I love you all more than you know — forever and always!!!

Thank you, Alpha Phi, for bringing me so many amazing friendships. I love this house so much!!!! 💕💕💕💕”

“Coming to Syracuse, I was anxious about leaving my family and the place I called home. My parents told me, “These next four years are going to be the best years of your life,” and they were right. The first semester of freshman year was one of the hardest times in my life. On a campus of 15,000 people, I struggled to find where I belonged. But the moment I walked into the Alpha Phi house during recruitment, something shifted. Seeing and , familiar faces from home who felt like best friends the second I started talking to them, gave me a glimpse of the home I could build here at Syracuse but more specififcally within Alpha Phi. They went out of their way to make me feel welcomed, introducing me to as many people as they could in the short time we had, and I’ll always be grateful for that.

After recruitment, I met nine girls who quickly became my best friends. To those girls, you are my people. These last three years have been unforgettable. Thank you for constantly pushing me to grow and become the best version of myself. I love every single one of you always.

To my big — you have changed my life in more ways than I can explain. You filled the role of being my older sister at Syracuse perfectly, and I couldn’t imagine my college experience without you. To my little — you are truly my best friend. I miss you so much while you’re abroad in Barcelona but just know I’m at home laughing at all the memories we share anxiously waiting for you to come back. And to my glittle — I’m so grateful we have one last semester side by side and know I’ll always be cheering you on.You are forever my sisters, and the bond we share is truly one of a kind. I love you more than words can say.

Last but certainly not least, to my incredible MC. Each of you has impacted my life in ways you probably don’t even realize. I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive, uplifting group of women to grow alongside. I admire every single one of you and can’t wait to see all the amazing things you do after we graduate in May (I said the G word!).”

“Dear Ceci,

Everyone who knows me knows how much I talk about Ceci. Being from opposite sides of the world, how did I get so lucky Syracuse brought me my best friend? Cecis one of the only people I can be with 24/7 without feeling like I need to be alone. Ceci is extremely selfless, smart, and the funniest person I know.  Joining alpha phi and our bigs, Mia and Carly, also being best friends, has shaped my college experience and given me a family within a bigger family.  Ceci, I love you forever and I can’t wait to keep travelling the world with you. When I think of my college experience I think of Ceci. I am forever in debt to youuuu ❤️❤️❤️❤️”

“Dear Liv,

I’ve never met someone with a personality so contagious. From joining alpha phi together, and now years later being roommates abroad, sleeping in a tiny room with two twin size beds, there has never been a dull moment with Liv.

I feel endlessly lucky to have a friendship like ours, Liv. You are my favorite person, my constant, and I truly can’t imagine my college years without you by my side. Your positivity inspires everyone lucky enough to know you. To know you is to love you Liv. I can’t wait to go through every future era together and for a lifetime of memories with you by my side. From both being so nervous to move away so far from home, we really lucked out and found each-other and I am eternally grateful. Love is just too weak of a word!!”

“Coming from a small town with a high school graduating class of only 76 girls, stepping onto Syracuse’s campus was a whole new world. At home, my best friends feel like sisters because of our all-girls community.

Being part of Alpha Phi has given me meaningful friendships, unforgettable memories, and the confidence to grow into the person I am today. I’m constantly surrounded by support, positivity, and love from my sisters, especially MC ’23. I was worried I wouldn’t find this kind of community at Syracuse, and Alpha Phi has given me that, and so much more.

I met my big, , on bid day, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. Bibi is someone I’m lucky to look up to, my built-in best friend, and one of my strongest support systems beyond Alpha Phi. You inspire me to be my best self and always stay authentic. I’ll forever be grateful to Alpha Phi for giving me this friendship—I love you, Fofucha ❤️

To my best friends .manchester and , thank you for making the past 3.5 years the best of my life. Through all of the laughs, late nights, memories, and challenges, you’ve always been there, and I’m so grateful Alpha Phi brought us together. You both are incredible and such cool unique individuals, you both inspire me so much, please never change. I can’t wait to see all the amazing things you accomplish, and I’m so lucky to call you my best friends.

Lastly, shoutout to my amazing little . From living together, to answering my constant spam calls while you’re abroad in London, I honestly don’t know how I ever lived without you. My partner in crime, mini me, and best friend all in one, what more could a person ask for? I love and miss you so much, and I can’t wait to see everything you accomplish. Thank you for bringing .fehily and into our incredible pham—you guys are such lights and always make me feel young at heart. Thanks for always being yourselves and I can’t wait to see the pham you guys build together here”
