NYS SEFA SEFA provides opportunities for generous giving to many worthy causes. SEFA is currently composed of 23 local campaign areas.

The mission of the New York State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) is to support and to promote philanthropy through a program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all New York State employees the opportunity to contribute to charities and to consolidate fundraising into a single source of eligible charities, and to make their contributions through means such as payroll deductions. The Statewide SEFA Council, whose members are employee volunteers from state agencies across the state, has the overall responsibility for setting policy and overseeing SEFA. It reviews and provides guidance and technical advice on regulations, in consultation with the Office of General Services, and has the authority to conduct compliance audits of campaigns. Each local campaign area is directed by a Local Committee, also composed of employee volunteers, that acts as an oversight body for the local campaign and each region has representation on the Council. Local campaign committees are supported by Federated Community Campaign Managers (FCCMs) which perform the specific duties involved in running an annual payroll deduction charitable contribution program. The State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) is a single combined campaign for employees of New York State, supported by labor and management. SEFA is the only charitable solicitation of state employees authorized in state law and regulation. State employees may contribute through payroll deduction or by check.
