The highlight of our summer was our annual Syracuse Inner City Rotary Farm Trip. 40 children from the Dunbar Center, the Southwest Community Center, and the YWCA joined our Rotarians for a full day of adventure. Thank you to County Legislator Dave Knapp and the County Ag Council for funding buses for the day. Thank you to EZ Acres Dairy Farm in Homer for giving the kids a morning of life on a dairy farm. A shout out to Wegmans for the delicious box lunches they provided. The afternoon was spent riding horses and petting farm animals at Route 80 stables. And before the ride home, everyone was treated to ice cream at Bailey's in Nedrow. Education in a fun way was experienced by all!

Our Rotary meeting this morning was productive, as usual. We planned an apple picking event for October. All apples will be donated to a local pantry. We voted on the annual Polio Plus donation we will be making at the World Polio Day event being held in Syracuse on October 23rd\ . We welcomed a prospective member and we discussed the District Grant we will be receiving to help a local non-profit purchase a new freezer. We also celebrated two members' birthdays with cupcakes.

We hosted two extraordinary individuals at our first September meeting. International Rotarian guests Cara and Yohannes Yadagne visited from Ethiopia. They are co-founders of the Ethiopian based NGO Hiwot . It was an amazing presentation. Hiwot Means Life. Their focus includes Leadership Development. They focus on participatory learning that drives positive behavior and community change to the most difficult issues individuals and communities face. They work in conflict/war zones, bringing enemy groups together for peace and conflict resolution training in order to reconcile and lead peace efforts. Their results are amazing.
