On Point

On Point On Point is a non-profit college attainment and workforce development program. As students advanced, we expanded to ensure they could thrive in college as well.

Our Mission
We break down barriers that prevent young, underserved individuals from achieving education and career success. Our Story
On Point was founded in 1999 in Syracuse, NY as a nonprofit college access program supporting first-generation students. Early services included help with applications, campus tours, one-on-one advising, and dorm supplies. Our College Success Program provides mentor

ing, course selection guidance, financial aid support, and on-campus wellness visits, giving students the tools they need to graduate. In 2008, we added Career Services, connecting students with internships, job fairs, and career counseling while helping them prepare resumes, cover letters, and interview skills. On Point has grown beyond Syracuse, opening an Utica office in 2012 and expanding in 2018 to serve six Central New York counties: Cayuga, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, and Oswego. Since 1999, our students have attended more than 300 colleges and post-secondary programs. Thousands have earned degrees, and our alumni include teachers, business owners, first responders, doctors, nurses, nonprofit leaders, and even a Marshall Scholar and Watson Scholar. After more than two decades, one thing has never changed: all of our services remain 100% free to students. We are funded through a mix of grants, sponsorships, and the generosity of individual donors.

Sometimes, a student's own words say more than a whole story ever could.

Casey Haynes shared her gratitude after receiving support from On Point for College with her Phlebotomy Technician credential — a step that helped her continue moving forward toward her goals.

At On Point for College, student support is not always about big moments. Sometimes, it is about being there for the practical steps that matter — helping students navigate the process, stay on track, and feel supported along the way.

We are grateful to be part of Casey’s journey and proud to continue walking alongside students as they build their futures. 💙

"Talent is equally distributed. Opportunity is not.”

That belief has guided On Point for College from the very beginning — and our 2026 Celebration was a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to create opportunity for students.

From inspiring stories to meaningful connections, this night reflected the heart of our mission and the impact made possible by our students, alumni, supporters, partners, and community leaders.

What began with founder Ginny De Lucia Donohue’s vision 27 years ago continues to grow through every student empowered, every barrier removed, and every life changed.

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us and continues to believe in the power of education, access, and opportunity.

Always Keeping It OnPoint. 💙
