We are officially one week away from one of the most exciting and uplifting family-oriented events happening in ! You do not want to miss the 2026 Literacy Parade & Children's Book Festival. Represent your organization and march for literacy in the parade, meet us at McKinley-Brighton Elementary for entertainment, food, fun, books, activities, and community resources. We will also have the privilege of having two Doctors of Psychology/authors present in Michael Gilbert and Jessica Sicherman!
Gilbert and Sicherman serve in our local community as licensed psychologists. They both have over 30 years of experience working with children and families to help improve quality of life emotionally, mentally and socially. With so many years dedicated to supporting children backed by clinical knowledge, it is no surprise that this duo has over 60 published books between them.
In their most recent book "The Gift of Wonder: A Journey Toward Hope," Gilbert and Sicherman's main character considers ways in which he can make the world a better place. The realization that he can simply start with himself is powerful. Through kindness, acts of service, and self-reflection, readers will see how one can make an impact through wonder.
Learn about Gilbert's work with It's About Childhood and Family, Inc., Sicherman's work with small children, or simply plan to meet them both in person on Saturday, June 13 during the festival from 1 - 4 p.m. Visit www.lightacandleforliteracy.org to join the parade, register for the festival, and find other opportunities to participate.
