At a table filled with food, stories, and laughter, God is growing belonging across generations.
In Brooklyn, African and African Diaspora neighbors are preserving cultural memory, responding to food insecurity, and creating space for young people to reconnect.
Cook and Eat, an Innovation Grant ministry of Bethel Presbyterian Reformed Church, gathers generations to share cooking skills and cultural stories. Through this ministry, heritage is preserved, youth are welcomed, neighbors find connection, and nourishing community takes root.

What happens when a shared meal becomes an act of memory, welcome, and mission?
Communities need places where cultural heritage is honored, food insecurity is met with care, young people can reconnect, and immigrant and diaspora neighbors experience belonging.
Cook and Eat, an Innovation Grant ministry of Bethel Presbyterian Reformed Church in Brooklyn, creates that kind of gathering. Through intergenerational workshops, African and African Diaspora culinary heritage is preserved as cooking skills and cultural stories move from one generation to the next. Youth find a place at the table, neighbors share their gifts, and the Church responds to local need through relationship and hope.
This is The Church Beyond (“we are sent”) a missional identity rooted in presence. Formed Within. Sent Beyond. Walking Alongside. Creating Belonging.
Spirit-Led. Transformative Faith. Boundless Welcome.
