Black Artist Collective formed in the summer of 2020 in Syracuse, NY. BAC champions equity in the arts, advocating for more equitable resource distribution, and draws attention to the policies that shape creative labor and access. Whether it’s through public programs, performance, education, peer mentorship, resource sharing, or speaking directly to decision-makers, we remain committed to building sustainable infrastructure that support artists. HEY ARTISTS. GO VOTE!! — EARLY VOTING polls are OPEN. Visit your county board of elections for hours and locations!

Don't miss this opportunity to help shape policies that directly affect our creative ecosystem, from equitably funding the arts and education to creating workforce development opportunities, guaranteed income, and mobile healthcare benefits for artists, as well as protecting culturally rich spaces from defunding, gentrification, and erasure.

Voting means calling for a holistic policy framework that guarantees equitable funding, education, healthcare, protective measures, and incentives that leverage the arts to create jobs, strengthen small businesses, and revitalize neighborhoods. In a time of defunding and growing precarity, we need policies that treat the arts not as a luxury but as a necessity, an industry, a workforce, and a civic asset worth investing in and protecting.

MUSEUM HUE CONGRATS + APPRECIATION — Black Artist Collective co-founders Jaleel Campbell, Cjala Surratt and Martikah Williams joined a dynamic circle of artists, cultural strategists, and institution-builders for the 10th Anniversary Museum Hue Symposium!!

Held at BRIC Arts Media in Brooklyn, NY, the convening brought together changemakers, including Sonya Childress, Co-Founder of Color Congress; Chelsea Goding-Doty, Senior Program Officer of Leadership Initiatives at the New York Foundation for the Arts; Rasu Jilani, Executive Director of the Brooklyn Arts Council; and Omar Eaton-MartĂnez, Senior Vice President of Historic Sites at the National Trust for Historic Preservation and many, many more!!

Museum Hue has carried an uncompromising vision for cultural equity for over a decade, pushing for systemic change through policy, institutional accountability, research, and coalition building. It has been a declaration of value, and a blueprint for how we collectively reimagine and rebuild a cultural ecosystem that affirms and sustains BIPOC practitioners, organizations, and communities.

SHOUT OUT to Museum Hue founder and executive director Stephanie Johnson Cunningham, whose leadership has shifted narratives and shaped a lasting framework for cultural justice in action. Here’s to the next decade of stewardship, transformation, and radical legacy-making in the arts sector.
