Agriculture is more data-driven than ever before!

Farmers use information from weather forecasts, soil sensors, crop monitoring tools, and livestock management systems to help make decisions throughout the year. This data can help farmers respond to changing conditions, use resources efficiently, and care for their crops and animals.

Technology may provide the information, but farmers use their experience and knowledge to put it into action.

The future of farming is here, and it might look a little different than you think! This week in our Rooted In Agriculture series, our theme is Ag Technology- The Future of Farming!🚜🚜

Today’s farmers use technology like GPS-guided equipment, drones, smart sensors, and robotics to help care for crops and livestock. These tools provide valuable information that helps farmers make informed decisions, improve efficiency, and use resources wisely.

While technology continues to advance, one thing remains the same: the dedication and knowledge the farmers who work every day to produce the food, fiber, and fuel we rely on!

Georgia summers can be tough, but farmers work hard to keep their animals comfortable and healthy during the hottest days of the year. ☀️🐄🐷

From providing shade and fresh water to using fans, misters, and carefully managed feeding schedules, livestock producers take extra steps to care for their animals when temperatures rise.

In this week’s Rooted in Ag post, we’re taking a look at how farmers help livestock stay cool and why animal care is a top priority on Georgia farms every day of the year! 🐓🐄🌱

When you think of animal agriculture, you might picture a farm animal, but there’s so much more to the story. This week’s theme in our series is Georgia Livestock: Beyond the Barn. 🐄🐓

From broilers and layers in the poultry industry to the different stages of beef production, dairy farms producing milk every day, and swine farmers using biosecurity to keep animals healthy, each livestock sector plays a unique role in Georgia agriculture.

These farmers and producers work year-round to provide food, fiber, and other products we use every day while caring for their animals through every stage of production.

Swipe through to learn more about the industries that keep Georgia agriculture growing!🌱🌱

Ever wondered where all the flowers, shrubs, and houseplants around us begin?

Many plants start through a process called propagation- growing new plants from seeds, cuttings, or other plant parts. In the horticulture and floriculture industries, propagation helps greenhouses and nurseries produce the plants we see in landscapes, gardens, homes, and stores.

These industries help grow the plants that beautify our communities and support agriculture across Georgia!

Plants really do power our world- one cutting at a time!🌱🌱🌱

This summer, we’re digging into the many ways agriculture impacts our everyday lives- from the food we eat to the clothes we wear and the world around us. Each week, we’ll dig into a new topic and discover how agriculture keeps our communities growing strong.

This week’s theme is Plants Power Our World🌱🌱

Plants do so much more than just grow crops- they clean our air, feed people and animals, and provide materials we use everyday.

Soil health is the foundation of agriculture. Healthy soil helps plants grow stronger, holds water better, and supports nutrients crops need to thrive. Without healthy soil, it would be hard to grow the plants that power our world!

Follow along this summer as we stay 🌱☀️
