Last week, close to 100 donors, stakeholders, Sylvania Franciscans-Sisters of St. Francis gathered to hear from Sylvania Franciscan Foundation grantees, The Cocoon and Toledo GROWs about their mission and the impact of the Foundation's support.
Sisters of St. Francis Sustainability Coordinator, Sara Grunberg, shared about the exciting efforts being initiated on campus by the Sisters as their commitment to Care for the Earth. For example, the newly installed solar panels are already "generating enough electricity to power the equivalent of 44 houses for one year!"
Wrapping up the special evening, Sr. Barb Vano shared Franciscan history, including stories of St. Francis and Mother Adelaide. Her reflections emphasized the call for each of us to share our gifts and to remain in community.

UPDATE!!!!

💜🧵 WOW! Thank You, Tiffin & Seneca County! 🧵💜

Once again, our incredible community has stepped up in a big way!

Just a short time after we shared a request for a sewing machine for one of the survivors residing at Sisters in Shelter, we received not one, but TWO sewing machine donations! We are beyond grateful for the kindness, generosity, and willingness of our community to help whenever there is a need.

We often say that we couldn't do what we do without the support of Tiffin and Seneca County, and this is yet another example of why. Time and time again, when we reach out for assistance, whether it's supplies, donations, volunteer support, or opportunities for our survivors, our community responds with compassion and action.

These sewing machines represent so much more than equipment. They provide an opportunity for creativity, skill-building, confidence, healing, and even the potential for future income. Most importantly, they show our survivors that there are people who care about them and are invested in their success.

To everyone who shared our post, offered assistance, and donated, thank you for believing in our mission and the women we serve. Your support creates opportunities for hope, healing, and new beginnings every single day.

Tiffin and Seneca County truly are special places, and we are blessed to be part of such a caring and generous community. 💜

Sisters Julitta, Brenda, and Rosemarie enjoyed a tour of Nature's Nursery today. We learned about the impressive growth that their program has had in recent years, thanks in part to the funding support of the Sylvania Franciscan Foundation.
One exciting step recently, is the building of raised garden beds and greenhouse that will enable them to grow their own produce to feed the animals (rabbits need their greens!)
This Foundation funded project has helped NN form partnerships with volunteer groups and enhanced their youth education efforts. Thank you Nature's Nursery for all the ways you are helping us be better stewards of Mother Earth!

Thank you to the Sylvania Franciscan Foundation for a generous grant to sponsor our ESL classes. ARLC provides 8-week beginning ESL classes several times a year, and this grant covers the cost of instruction and supplies for those classes. We are grateful for the support to offer this service.

ARLC has an ESL class starting in January. For more information, email [email protected].
