Noodle is loving his Saturday enrichment! 💚

Baffle cages are a favorite around here for keeping animals engaged. Stuffed with bird safe dried flowers, raw pasta, millet, and some pine nuts, it’s the perfect way to mentally stimulate and empower at the same time. 😎

Foraging at its finest!

It’s time go aquarium shopping, Stan. ❤️

We’ve taken some time to think about the placement of his new tank. We wanted to make sure it stays in a heavily trafficked area since he enjoys seeing people. He also really likes seeing the birds. 🤔

Two of our education ambassadors, Stan and Noodle, definitely plotting how to get some extra snacks. 👀

Today is the LAST day to snag your limited edition Sam, I Can shirt!

We’re so excited to share that the Sam, I Can Foundation is part of the Here For Good campaign with Jūpmode and our limited edition design is officially LIVE!

For those who aren’t familiar, Here For Good is a short term fundraising campaign where Jupmode partners with local organizations to create exclusive apparel. They handle all the printing and shipping, and a portion of every sale comes directly back to support our mission. 💚

The campaign runs now through March 22nd. It’s a pre sale, which means all orders will be collected first, then printed and shipped after the campaign ends. Many orders will ship in April.

Whether you’re local or cheering us on from somewhere else, you can order and have it shipped directly to you!

This is such a fun and meaningful way to support the Sam, I Can Foundation while helping us build momentum for the big things ahead. We can’t wait to see you wearing it. 😎

Stan is interacting with the foraging ball.

Let us share with you the behavior we are observing and monitoring as we shape Stan's foraging behavior with this acrylic ball.

After half an hour of swimming around the tank, we edited this video to show you this. At first, he is floating. Watch his right eye. We are. We are observing how his eyes move and what happens after. We want to know how his eyes move and what his behavior looks like when he observing something. After a few moments of him looking at the ball, he moves in. After he plucks the shrimp from the ball, it floats away. Watch what happens after the shrimp is moved by the water flow. This tells us movement is a reinforcer for him going after the food. Reinforcer identified.

Next, we see him trying to break the shrimp into a more edible piece. He intentionally goes to his rock on the right to break the piece apart. We can adjust tools and intended usage within his aquarium, the new aquarium that you, our viewers, and supporters have helped us get for Stan!

Stay tuned. More to come!
