Kosgei Represents CWA at 2023 Marine Corp Marathon
Isaiah Kosgei, an elite Kenyan athlete from Iten, Kenya will be running for CWA in the 2023 Marine Corp Marathon. A 2:09 marathoner, Kosgei is excited to be lacing up his sneakers to run his first marathon in the USA. After months of hard training, he is excited and up for the challenge of taking on 26.2 miles around the streets of the USA capital, Washington D.C to raise money and awareness for CWA’s newly launched Female Athlete Scholarship Program.
Targeting talented, female athletes from Kenya, the program provides 4-year scholarships for girls who otherwise would not be able to afford to attend High School, helping them to pursue both their athletic and academic dreams. Headed up by international athlete, Betsy Saina, the program will include tuition, mentors, workshops, coaching, menstrual health education and post-secondary goal setting for either college or a trade.
Kosgei shared how, ‘This makes me happy and proud to partner and race for the Cross World Africa Organisation as an ambassador at the Marine Corp Marathon to give them an opportunity to support as many families in Africa and Kenya and make Hope a Reality’.
The 2023 Marine Corp Marathon will be the flagship fundraiser, which Kosgei sees as a great opportunity to not just raise money but also hopes to challenge the veteran’s marathon world record.
Our goal is to raise funds for 50 scholarships of, on average $500 per student although any level of donation is most welcome. CWA remains a 501(c)3, USA-based not-for-profit who is managed by volunteers since 2007. Donations are 100% eligible for tax deduction. We would appreciate your donation through the CWA website (www.crossworldafrica.org) or by check to ‘Cross World Africa’ using the address: P.O. Box 1792– Sylvania, Georgia 30467.
