There’s been a lot happening across the Toledo Jewish community, with the Jewish Federation and JCRC creating opportunities for people to meaningfully connect.
Here’s a short recap of what’s been happening this week:
• Interfaith Civic Gathering: JCRC and Temple Shomer Emunim hosted a civic conversation, made possible by a grant from the Jewish Partnership for Democracy. The program brought together more than 55 people from different faith backgrounds for a conversation about American civic values ahead of America’s 250th anniversary.
• Discussion with Maya Shoham: A group of staff and lay leaders had the opportunity to meet with Maya Shoham, Regional Director of Partnership2Gether, for a lunch discussion about the challenges facing Israel’s Northern Region and how P2G helps strengthen the connection between Jewish communities here and in Israel. The connection between Jewish Toledo and P2G is significant, and conversations like this help deepen that relationship.
• Cooking with Chef Uri: That same evening, Chef Uri and his wife Hila, part of the Israeli delegation visiting from the Western Galilee, led a cooking workshop for community members and young professionals. Together, we made arayes and spent the evening connecting through food, stories, and Israeli culture.
• Second Workshop for the Community: Because of the strong response, JCRC and JFGT were able to offer a second workshop with Chef Uri and Hila for the wider community.
• Community Night at the Mud Hens: We finished things off with a group of community members at a Toledo Mud Hens game, enjoying a relaxed evening together and another chance to connect outside the usual setting.
Here in Jewish Toledo, JCRC and JFGT are creating meaningful ways for community members to engage with important issues, strengthen Partnership2Gether Western Galilee and connect with the Jewish people as a whole through our membership with P2G.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this important encounter possible.
