Gino’s pizza donated 120 slices of pizza of every flavor to Shoppe Sylvan shoppers, guests and volunteers! All hungry mouths were treated to their fabulous pizza! It is our great joy to pass these pies out to our community! Thank you Ginos for your support of Shoppe Sylvan and the entire Sylvan Lake community! We are grateful and full! 😉🍕❤️

Let’s get to know Katie and Wood & Ash!

🤍What will you showcase at the November Shoppe Sylvan?

I have curated a unique collection of home goods, specializing in handmade goods of raw materials. At Shoppe Sylvan I will feature my live edge charcuterie boards along with wooden kitchen utensils, cutting boards, trivets and more. I will also have some engraved holiday themed goods.

🤍What is a product or piece you are particularly proud to showcase?

My Charcuterie boards: These are completely hand crafted and each board is one of a kind.

🤍What is your background relative to your creations?

My husband and I made a few large charcuterie boards to plate our food for our wedding 5 years ago and we got so many questions on the boards, if we were making and selling them, I decided to create a business around these live edge charcuterie boards and many more wood products too.

🤍What is your inspiration to create?

I love the large slabs of wood that I start with, they can be about 13-15 feet long and the grains and knots in the wood, the more unique the better.

🤍Favorite time of day to create?

Mid day to evening, sometimes I just need to be more alert when using some of the tools I use and don’t like to use them first thing in the morning.

🤍Dave, what will you be showcasing at the event?

During the main event, we’ll be offering samples of our homemade clam chowder and
house-made whitefish pâté, sharing a taste of what makes Lost Sailor special. We’ll also be
selling gift cards and showcasing the range of things we do, from gourmet market offerings to
crafted seasonal dishes.

People often ask if Lost Sailor is a market or a restaurant, and my answer is always an
enthusiastic
“Yes — we’re both.” Lost Sailor was created to be a bridge between the maker and the
community, a place where food, craft, and connection come together. What inspires me most are not only the flavors of the sea and the land, but the people who care for them; the farmers, fishers, and artisans who bring their passion to every ingredient. My role in that story is to share it with our community, one dish, one taste, one conversation at a time.

🤍Shoppe Sylvan is thrilled to introduce Lia Merritt and Ladle and Spoon!

Hi! I’m Lia Merritt, the heart (and ladle!) behind Ladle & Spoon. I’ve been in the restaurant business since I was 14 years old — managing, cooking, serving, prepping, creating menus, and even handling payroll. You name it, I’ve done it! Food has always been my passion and my happy place.

After decades in the industry, I wanted to bring that same comfort and flavor straight to people’s homes — made-from-scratch soups, breads, and other delicious creations that taste like they came out of your own kitchen.

I’m a total foodie from Waterford, Michigan, and I love creating dishes that feel familiar, cozy, and full of flavor. My husband still gets to be my favorite taste-tester and occasional critic, but Ladle & Spoon is truly my own labor of love.

At Ladle & Spoon, everything is made with real ingredients, a lot of heart, and a touch of nostalgia. I believe good food should make you feel cared for — whether it’s a warm bowl of soup on a chilly day or a loaf of bread that makes your kitchen smell like home.

🤍What will you showcase at Shoppe Sylvan?

Granola, Plank Brownies, microgreens, Roasted Cinnamon Pecans/ Almonds with Sweetfern, Jams, Shortbread Bars, Swedish Cardamom Cakes, Bags of our Sweetfern tea. Additionally our products are infused with our microgreen powders and/ or Sweet-fern powder.

🤍What motivates you to create?

Knowing that our product adds value to our friends and neighbors daily lives by providing unadulterated nutritious foods and promoting sustainable living in a community based environment.

🤍What is your favorite medium?

Organic soil (play on words).

🤍What has been a seminal experience?

When I began at the farmers market with simply four types of microgreens it was an amazing experience learning how many people not only desire better food choices but “need” for a prescribed diet or health condition. Realizing that so many foods are lacking true freshness and nutrition we expanded our products. These include foods infused with our highly nutrient dense microgreen powders and Sweet Fern.

🤍Amy, what will you showcase on November 9?

Long-lasting, healthier nail polish for your active outdoor lifestyle. Our polish is made in the USA and is free from twenty-one harsh chemicals. Rugged Beauty is also cruelty free and vegan friendly.

🤍What is your inspiration to create?

I am inspired by resilient women who aren’t afraid to dig into life and break a nail occasionally and the rugged beauty of the USA, particularly Michigan.

🤍How do you create? What is the process?

I typically think about an activity our customers like to participate in or experience, then choose the nail polish colors and names from this inspiration. For example, many of our Rugged Beauties like to spend time in the Great Outdoors, so I created a collection named just that. I included earthy colors and launched shades like Bonfire, Riverbend, Down to Earth, or Favorite Hoodie to evoke the feeling you get walking through the woods on a crisp day.

🤍Does your artwork represent something about you?

I grew up fishing, hiking, kayaking and playing sports and I’ve always had a passion for preserving the natural beauty we all enjoy. I think Rugged Beauty reflects that side of me and my interests.
