Make your SUN Bucks go further at the farmers market!

Got SUN Bucks this summer? Each eligible child receives a one-time $120 to spend on groceries, and you can stretch those dollars further when you shop for fresh fruits and vegetables at the market.

The Jackson County Farmers Market offers Double Up Food Bucks: spend $20 in SNAP/EBT (including SUN Bucks) and they match it with another $20, up to $20 per visit. The market runs once a week, so that's an extra $20 in fresh produce every Saturday.

Saturdays, 9 am to noon, Bridge Park, downtown Sylva
Stop by the market info table, tell them how much you want to spend, and they'll add your match in tokens.

Want to learn to make every food dollar count? Join us at WNC From the Ground Up for our free SNAP/EBT learning series, every Tuesday at 11 am, 38 E Main St, Sylva:
June 9 — Developing a Household Food Budget
June 23 — Versatile Pantry
June 30 — Shopping Online with SNAP
July 7 — MIMB at the Market

Learn the ins and outs of using your benefits, then put them to work at the market on Saturday.

Questions? Call us at 828-305-3077 or NC Cooperative Extension at 828-586-4009.

Anyone recognize these signs from another Jackson County establishment?

We are grateful to Forager's Canteen for donating some of their decor & merch from their Dillsboro location to us. It was fun to use a few moments of today to get it up on the walls.

We are grateful.

This is at the core of our work, in our corner of the world. It hasn't been pretty, social media happy work. It takes perseverance, determination, a willingness to have hundreds of setbacks and to keep going. It means questioning our sanity to the point of joking in the office about being "Too dumb to quit." Yeah, non-profits aren't supposed to say that but it's the reality of work that runs as deep as it does. This means honoring the past, maneuvering through the present and dreaming of the future of agriculture and feeding people in WNC.

This took forever to get out because our Executive Director can talk to anyone face-to-face but hates the camera.

Long story short, we are working on opening the retail side of the organization. It serves to keep local food affordable and keep farmers farming. Markup will only my 15% for retail and 10% for SNAP/EBT and wholesale.

Grant funding and getting through the details of finally getting our 501(c)(3) designation and attending to details that couldn't have been done prior have been a lot of hurry up and wait. Just please bear with us because we are more impatient than all y'all put together in regards to getting the doors upstairs open.

We do have our CSA available at http://wncfarmtotable.com and our organization page is http:/wncfromthegroundup.org. If you have any questions, reach out to us at 828-307-3055

Thank you for your support!
