Rolling Start NC has had a busy 2025. Not only did we gift our 100th vehicle in less than 6 years but we are now up to 109. Eleven this year and on a pace for our most productive year yet!
We have been fortunate to have received several donated vehicles this year in great shape with quick turn over from donation to gifting.
Our support from our community - businesses, churches, local foundations and individuals - has been fantastic and increasing every year.
Here are some of our recent vehicle presentations.
Thank you everyone!! You have changed the lives of many of our neighbors.

Rolling Start NC reached a major milestone.

We presented our 100th vehicle to a local resident. She and her two service dogs had been living in a vehicle that was extremely unreliable and unsafe. This 2010 Toyota Camry will help her in many ways.
A large group of people were present for the awarding of the Camry. These people have played various roles for that 100 by obtaining and refurbishing donated vehicles, identifying and vetting potential recipients, providing parts and services at reduced or free cost, and helping to fund the process.
Those pictured are only a portion of the total that have made this happen.
The funding for this vehicle came from The North Carolina Community Foundation-Jackson County.

Thank You to our caring community !!

Rolling Start NC sends Christmas Greetings and Holiday wishes to everyone and hopes that 2025 will be joyous and prosperous.

We have recently presented vehicles to three local individuals in time for Christmas.

Recently Ward Plumbing and Heating donated a work truck they had retired from their fleet. This was refurbished with funds provided by the Sylva Rotary Club. It was given to a local gentleman and his brother who does not drive. They are self employed as handymen. They have been hindered by the unreliability of their 1984 truck that they spent more time fixing than driving. Thanks to Ward`s, Sylva Rotary and our staff and volunteers, their lives should be easier and more productive.

A 2007 Camry was donated by a family in Sapphire NC and with funds from The Church of the Good Shepherd was refurbished and then given to a woman who had been without a vehicle yet still trying to work every day, raise a grandchild and with hopes of furthering her education now that she has a way to get to classes. She was excited and appreciative of all involved.

Using funds from a grant from The Great Smokies Health Foundation, a 2006 Volvo station wagon donated from a family in Waynesville, was refurbished and given to a disabled woman. Without a vehicle she had become isolated and dependent on others for everyday needs. Keeping her medical appointments was difficult. She was grateful to again care for herself and for the opportunities her own vehicle will afford her.

As always, thank you to our vehicle donors, our financial backers, our business partners and of course our staff and volunteers.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

Rolling Start NC hosted an Appreciation Dinner for employees, volunteers, and supporters. The event was sponsored by WNC Bridge Foundation and catered by Pop’s Butts On the Creek (1584 Soco Rd, Maggie Valley). The guests were given a tour of the RSNC facilities and garage. Everyone enjoyed a delicious BBQ dinner, car-themed music, and great fellowship & conversations. Many thanks to all of our supporters and volunteers over these past 5 years. We are truly blessed and appreciate you all!

As we approach Thanksgiving, we at Rolling Start NC would like to take a moment to thank everyone that has contributed to our non-profit. From the car donors and those giving financial support, to our employees and many volunteers. Thank you to all that have helped and shown support.

Thanks to everyone`s efforts, we have been able to give 4 more vehicles to local residents in need in time for Thanksgiving.

A 2002 Ford Explorer, the personal vehicle of a local government official, was refurbished and given to a local woman who has been without a vehicle for 5 years. This vehicle will allow her to get a full time job and be a dependable employee.

A 2005 Saturn Vue was donated by the family of a recently deceased woman in hopes that the kindness of her life would continue with this vehicle helping others. It was given to a single mother of three young children. She is struggling to work and get her children to things they are involved in without a vehicle.

A 2000 Toyota Camry was also donated following the death of its only owner, the donors knowing she would happily approve. A disabled woman received this car. Her husband does not drive. This car will allow her to take her husband to work, for her to be more involved with family, church and get to medical appointments.

All three of these were refurbished with funds from a grant from Great Smokies Health Foundation.

A local family donated a 2005 Toyota Sienna van that no longer fit their needs. It was repaired and refurbished using a portion of a generous grant from the Church of the Good Shepherd in Cashiers. Parts from other Sienna vans that had been donated were used and a local businessman donated the paint needed. It was given last week to a local widow that has adopted 3 of her young grandchildren and is also largely raising 2 others. She works full time but has not been able to afford a vehicle. She has been driving a borrowed older, small, extended cab pick up. Frequently, some of the children will need to ride in the back. All 6 of them are thrilled and looking forward to this Thanksgiving.

Thanks to all sharing their love and kindness.
