Some more of the fun from this past weekend!

May we present to you, our certified…waterfowlers, conservationists, trappers, duck callers, upland hunters, trap shooters, predator hunters, archers, dish washers, etc etc!

These kids should know it all by now! After a weekend full of as much outdoor learning as we could squeeze in, they left with an abundance of knowledge… and questions.

Parents, we encourage you to continue fueling the fire of these outdoorsmen/women. We love nothing more than to play an influence on our next generation of hunters!

Thanks again to all of our volunteers and sponsors! We couldn’t make this event happen and provide the necessary hunting gear to these kids, without those people! We look forward to next year and encourage others to spread the word as we will be looking for 10+ new candidates for 2027!

3rd and final day getting started!! Today’s agenda - retriever first aid/trauma/ general care with Dr. Christine and Kirk from River Basin Vet. Then moving into retriever training basics and setup with our very own HCCRA dog trainers. Later this afternoon we will mock up an upland hunt for opportunities at pheasants and end the day with some duck calling!!

Day ✌🏻is well underway! Today on the agenda we are going over waterfowl ID, had good game of knockout in clay pigeons this morning, waterfowl hunting basics - (land and water) and jumping into predator management and trapping this afternoon!! We will end the day with some fishing, fishing derby and then fish cleaning class!! A big thanks to our helpers today, Ben Blood (Lucky Duck Premium Decoys )doing predator management and Aaron Lynch for our trapping session!

YOUTH ACADEMY IS CLOSED!!

We are full this year and have orders and schedules finalized!! We’re all excited for a weekend of hunting, shooting, and learning!
Here’s a tentative schedule, it’s going to be a packed weekend!

We had a really productive day cleaning up some dog training grounds, getting things ready for the 2026 youth academy today and our upcoming AKC hunt test! We need to give a special shout out to some awesome local companies that make all this possible for us and the equipment on hand today that saved tons of time and energy!! Big thanks to Legacy Acres, Dave Schmitt Construction, MD Demolition, Midwest Underground Contractors, and Country Landscapes, Inc.! Thanks to the HCCRA crew that grinded this out in heat and sun today!
