After almost two years of praying and faithfully saving, we're excited to announce that EFC has officially raised the funds to build the EFC House at the Lifehouse Community!

This will be the third of ten homes providing safe, transitional housing for individuals working toward a fresh start. What an incredible opportunity to be part of something that will impact lives for years to come.

To everyone who gave—thank you. Whether your gift was large or small, every single donation mattered. Together, we reached this milestone, and we couldn't have done it without your generosity and faithfulness. Now it's time to build!

Some of you may be wondering why this project is taking so long, and that’s a fair question.

So far, 100% of what we’ve accomplished has been funded by our community alone and donated labor. No grants. No loans. No construction companies. Every step forward has come from people who believe in this vision and have chosen to invest in it.

A project of this size takes significant resources, so we’ve been moving forward as funding becomes available. It may feel slow, but we are still making steady progress.

One major milestone we’re waiting on is our official 501(c)(3) approval. All of the necessary paperwork has been submitted, and we’re waiting to hear back. Once that is finalized, we’ll be able to apply for grants and other funding opportunities that can help move this project forward much faster.

If you’d like to help, there are several ways to get involved. You can join us on workdays, volunteer your skills, or make a financial contribution. Every dollar matters and brings us one step closer to making the Lifehouse Community a reality.

And just because only three structures are currently standing doesn’t mean we have to wait until the entire project is finished before using them. We’re not far from completing the first two homes, along with the laundry facility and counseling office. Once those are done, we plan to begin moving residents in while construction continues on the rest of the community.

When completed, the Lifehouse Community will include ten 390-square-foot homes, a laundry facility, and a counseling office—creating a place where people transitioning from homelessness, addiction recovery, incarceration, and other difficult circumstances can find stability, support, and hope.

Thank you for your grace, patience, and support. Thank you for believing in this vision and helping us bring it to life. Most of all, thank you for helping us remind people that they belong, that they are worthy, that they are loved, and that a second chance is possible. Together, we’re building more than houses—we’re helping rebuild lives.

If you know somebody in need... please share this with them!

With temperatures expected to rise to 108 on Wednesday and 104 on Thursday, The Sweetwater House Of Peace - The SHOP will be open for our neighbors to cool down and get out of these extreme temperatures. from 2pm - 7pm. Please get our friends out of this heat as it is very dangerous.

Weather permitting ☀️🔨 we’ve got a work day planned at the Lifehouse Community on Saturday, May 30th from 8AM–3PM!

We’ll be tackling electrical work, mudding, texturing, painting, and plenty more — so there’s a job for everybody. Whether you’re handy with tools or just willing to jump in and help, we’d love to have you there.

No experience needed… just bring yourself and a willingness to serve. Community really does change everything, and this is a chance to be part of building something that will make a real difference. ❤️

Huge thank you to our friends at Trinity Baptist Church, The Open Door Church and Community Center, and Emmanuel Fellowship Church—you guys showed up big this past Saturday and helped us get a ton done! We’re so grateful 🙌

If you missed it, no worries—we’ve got another work day coming up at the Lifehouse Community on May 30th from 8AM–3PM. We’ll be wrapping up some electrical, finishing painting in the houses, and doing another round of mudding in the laundry room and counseling office.

Also, if your group, club, church, or organization would like to jump in and schedule your own work day, we’d love to have you—just reach out and let us know!

Right now, we could really use a few specific skills:
-Carpentry (trimming around windows, doors, and baseboards)
-Tile work for the base of our showers (sides will be inserts)
-Someone to install two 4-foot cinderblock walls where the rebar is

Every helping hand gets us one step closer to opening these first two houses—and moving on to the third. We couldn’t do this without you! 💛
