As a youth organization that spends countless hours at our city parks & ball fields, this is extremely disappointing. Fraley Park is home to so many memories for our girls, families & community & it’s frustrating watching the same issues continue to happen over & over again.
One of our biggest goals as a league is to continue growing youth sports in Sweetwater & we’re working toward improving & hopefully building better facilities/complexes for our kids. But situations like this slow progress down tremendously. When parks & public property are damaged, it not only affects city employees trying to maintain them, it affects every child, family & organization that uses them.
We all have to do better about holding our kids accountable, supervising them & teaching respect for public spaces. These parks belong to ALL of us. The reality is, when damage keeps happening, it discourages growth, improvements & opportunities for our youth.
Our kids deserve clean, safe & well-maintained places to play & it’s going to take the entire community working together to make that happen!
The public restrooms at Fraley Park are closed until further notice due to hazardous damages. Remember, if you see someone actively damaging City parks, you can call the Sweetwater Police Department at (325) 236-6686. Please help us keep our parks clean and safe for our community and visitors.
