Parents, as you tuck in your kids tonight, take a moment to talk about Jesus sending out His disciples. Jesus used His disciples to spread the gospel across the world. Let’s read the story together!

READ: Luke 10:1–20

The Bible tells us that Jesus chose seventy-two other disciples to help spread the good news. In verse 3 (NLT), He said, “I am sending you out as lambs among wolves.” He knew the task wasn’t going to be easy, but He prepared them. He gave them clear instructions about where to go and what to say, and the disciples were eager to be sent out to spread the good news of Jesus.

ASK: Why do you think Jesus called them lambs among the wolves? Has Jesus sent us, just like He did the disciples?

PRAY: God, thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus. Thank You for sending me to share Your love with others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Parents, as you sit down for dinner, take a second to talk about what our purpose is.
Just like John the Baptist’s purpose was to tell others about Jesus’ arrival, as believers our purpose is to share the love of Jesus with others too. In addition to that, God has given each of us a specific purpose.

Here are some ideas to get the conversation started:e each family member to pray and ask God what their purpose is. Write the answers down and share with the family.

Here's some ideas to get the conversation started:
> What gifts or abilities has God given you that you can use to serve others?
> How can you show God’s love to someone who needs it?
> Think of some fun and creative ways you can serve your local church.

Just like John the Baptist’s purpose was to tell others about Jesus’ arrival, as believers, our purpose is to share the love of Jesus with others, too. In addition to that, God has given each of us a specific purpose.

Parents! As you’re headed somewhere today, let’s start a conversation. What are some ways you and your family can actively participate in God’s mission?

Here are some ideas to get you started:
> Volunteer at your local food pantry or collect food to donate.
> Make cards or treats for residents at a nursing home.
> Invite a friend who doesn’t know Jesus to lunch and share the gospel with them.
> Create a card or note for someone who is sad or hurting.
> Serve a sibling by helping with their chores or putting something away for them.

Jesus wanted the disciples to join the mission. Read Luke 5:1–11.

Parents, take a second to talk to your kids about what it means to serve others. In Matthew 20:20-28, Jesus taught that true greatness comes through serving. Before anyone can be considered important, they must first be willing to serve others.

TALK ABOUT IT: Kids, have you ever wanted something that made you feel important—like becoming class president, the captain of your soccer team, or even the CEO of your own lemonade stand? Wanting to achieve great things isn’t bad, but Jesus reminds us that true greatness starts with serving others first.
Let’s pray and ask Jesus to help us put others first: “Jesus, thank You for Your Word. Help me to walk humbly and look for ways to serve others. I want to be great in Your eyes. In Jesus name, Amen.”

Parents, as you tuck in your kids tonight, take a moment to talk about the story of Paul and Barnabas speaking truth. They were willing to speak God’s truth no matter what it cost them. Let’s read the story together!

READ: Acts 14:8–20

The Bible tells us that Paul and Barnabas were used by God to heal a crippled man. The people around got the wrong idea and thought that Paul and Barnabas were gods. They started to spread this lie. Paul and Barnabas chose to speak truth and tell the people about the gospel. Even though it was hard, they knew that speaking the truth was what God wanted them to do.

ASK: Is it important to always speak the truth? Why do you think Paul and Barnabas chose to speak the truth?

PRAY: “Jesus, thank You for Your Word. Help me to honor You and speak Your truth, even when it isn’t easy. In Your name I pray. Amen.”

Parents, as you sit down for dinner, take a second to discuss how to know the truth.

With so many voices around us, it can be hard to know what is true. These voices can cause us to wonder things like, “Is it okay to lie sometimes?” or “Should we be friends with everyone?” Thankfully, we can look to God’s Word as our ultimate source of truth. As a family, go around the table and discuss why it is important to know the truth and practical ways you can do so.

Here are some ideas to get the conversation started:
>> Why is knowing the truth so important?
>> Why can I trust God’s Word?
>> Practice by reading the Bible and journaling daily.
>> Openly ask God to show you the truth.

Hey, parents! As you’re on the road today, let’s start a conversation. There are lots of ways we can practice putting others before ourselves.

Here are some ideas to get you started:
> Help Mom and Dad without being asked. Do things like setting the table, sweeping the garage, or cleaning up your bedroom.
> Invite new people to sit with you at church and school.
> Let someone take your place waiting in line.
> Let someone else take the last cookie or dessert.
> Do a sibling’s chore for them.
> Let a sibling or friend sit in the front seat of the vehicle.

When we put others before ourselves, we are showing them God’s love without saying a word. Read about this truth in Luke 14:1, 7–15.
