Sweet Home Rotary Club

The Sweet Home Rotary Club meets on Tuesdays at 11:45 a.m. at the Linn Benton Community College Center located on the Sweet Home High School campus. Meetings include lunch and a program. The address is 1641 Long Street. We do not meet for lunch and a program on the fifth Tuesday when a month has a fifth Tuesday. We try to schedule a social event instead. Every year, our club awards scholarships to

deserving local students. To date, we have raised over $100,000 for scholarships. Our primary fundraiser is selling hamburgers and curly fries at The Oregon Jamboree country music festival held each summer in Sweet Home. Our club also provides dictionaries for all Sweet Home School District third graders, hosts a community-wide Easter Egg hunt and helps with a variety of other local projects and services. Internationally, we support the Makindu Children's Program in a rural region of eastern Kenya. The Makindu Center provides for the nutritional and medical needs of over 1,800 orphans and other vulnerable children, as well as access to primary education through high school, psychosocial support, advocacy, and vocational training. The children live in guardian homes in the community, and come to the center daily for food, recreation, bathing and laundering facilities, emotional support, and crisis intervention. Our club also provides support for Rotary's efforts to eradicate polio, provide safe drinking water and increase literacy rates worldwide.
