Hope's Closet of Sweet Home Hope’s Closet is a nonprofit organization that aids underprivileged children by providing them donations of children's clothing and basic needs.

Hi my name is Andee McCubbins and five years ago I started volunteering to deliver Kids Food Paks here in the Sweet Home School District. Kids Food Pak is a program set up by volunteers to help make sure kids get healthy food on the weekends. The school teachers and counselors identify kids that are in the most need of food assistance. Kids Food Pak is now delivering 202 food packs to Head Start t

hru 12th grade. That is a 25% increase from last year. There are 2,900 Students in the Sweet Home School District. This breaks down to 1 out of every 14 kids needs a food pack. Last year there was 244 kids that where homeless attending school….244 kids without a permanent residence!!! This breaks down to 1 out of every 12 kids is homeless. At the beginning of the school year I was told some pretty heart aching stories of children that had not had anything to eat for days until they got to school and were able to eat. A boy whose shoes were so bad the staff had to duck tape the sole of the shoe so he could wear them, or the one about the little one who has no underwear. Last year a teacher thought a student in her class had an accident so she sent him to the counselor to get a new change of clothes. The counselor had asked if he was not feeling well and the boy very shyly told him how his family had not had toilet paper in a long time. I spent a week praying about all the things I had just heard and all the stories from the last five years. I could no longer sit by and not do something. There is a song by Hillsong United called Hosanna and the part that keeps playing in my head is this, “Open up my eyes to the things unseen, Show me how to love like You have loved me, Break my heart for what breaks Yours”. God is breaking my heart because it is breaking HIS. It is time to open our eyes and love like we have been loved. Give grace like we have been given grace.

Gods' Heart will have a clothing closet give away on 8/18 at the High School from 9am-2pm during the Community Health Fair.

This has left us with no space for Hope's Closet donations, sorting, or storage. We kindly ask that you do not drop off any donations at Community Chapel at this time. Our hope is to be backup and running within the next year to 2 years. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to ask. Hope's Closet will temporarily be closed. We're in the process of building a new home and are living in temporary housing. This has left us with no space for Hope's Closet donations, sorting, or storage. We kindly ask that you do not drop off any donations at Community Chapel at this time. Our hope is to be backup and running within the next year to 2 years. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to ask. As most of you know I sort and store all of Hope's Closet in my garage in between distributions. We are now in process of selling our home and moving. During this time we will not be taking any donations for a while. If you have any questions post below here and I will get back to you asap.

We had 147 students make it to our distribution yesterday. It was a great turn out! Thank you to all that have donated to our event and a thank you to our volunteers which include SHHS Key Club, SHHS Cheerleaders, and the Girl Scouts!

I'm sorry for any inconvenience it caused anyone when we started clean up at 4:30. It slowed down greatly and we decided to pack up so we could get home for our Moms birthday party.
