After what felt like approximately 17 years of watching this Big Momma, checking cameras, analyzing goo, evaluating ligaments, and making wildly inaccurate predictions…

She finally had a bull calf!

Naturally, he arrived while she was acting completely normal and minding her own business, proving once again that cows calve on their schedule, not ours. 🤣

These cows are fancy like Applebees!
You know what a new grain/tack room floor means? We can spend part of the long weekend moving every single item that was moved to the basement last fall when we intended to do this project out to the barn! 🙌🏻👏🏻

Stopped by a friend’s farm today that had our bull Don Julio from Quimby Family Show Stock with their herd last summer, and it was really great seeing the calves on the ground. So far they’ve had 7 heifer calves and 4 bull calves-and every calf has been born unassisted.
Nothing better than seeing healthy babies, easy calving, and happy cows doing their job.

These five ducklings came out of the 22 we picked up for another farm, let’s just say they had “custom” legs, so we did some splinting and provided them with some aqua therapy.

They get around now…not exactly speed demons, they are definitely not outrunning any predators, but they’re safe, happy, and under the strict supervision of Molly, my Mum’s retired office dog turned Duck Protection/Pestering Services.
