🚂 All aboard! Please join us on September 23rd to experience the history of Central Vermont Railway’s Richford Branch, from its 1870 construction to its 1992 abandonment, including its Canadian Pacific interchange at the once-bustling border crossing.

Author and filmmaker James R. “Jim” Jones brings these railroad tales to life with stories and colorful visuals, along with his lifelong Franklin County connections.

This event is free and open to the public and will be hosted at the Swanton Village Complex from 6-9 pm on 9/23/26. Come hear the stories and step back into Franklin County’s railroad past!

The Swanton Historical Society extends our sincere gratitude to Don and Earl Taylor, and the Taylor Brothers’ estate, for their generous donation that made the restoration of the Toll Booth at the Ronald F. Kilburn Transportation Museum possible.

Their support has helped preserve an important piece of Swanton’s history for future generations. If you’re in the area, be sure to stop by the museum to see the beautifully restored Toll Booth and the new plaque honoring Don and Earl Taylor’s lasting legacy.

Want to step inside a 1920s bank vault right here in your own town?

Join us this Saturday at 21 Merchants Row, Swanton, VT for an Open House and see the progress being made on the Swanton Historical Society’s restoration of this historic building!

Built in the 1850s, this building has a long history in the heart of Swanton. Our goal is to fully restore and renovate it into a beautiful landmark, museum, and community space for everyone to enjoy.

Come check out the progress, explore the building, and take a peek inside the 1920s bank vault!
