2025 is officially here. What are your plans and goals for the new year?

The Swanton Village Fire Department is currently seeking firefighters to join our department. No experience is necessary, and all required training will be provided.

Some things you can expect when becoming a part of our sacred brotherhood:

-Weekly meeting/training nights every Monday evening;
-An hourly wage for response to emergency calls once certified and your probationary period has ended;
-Becoming a state-certified Firefighter I at no cost to you (must provide own transportation to/from training);
-Becoming a part of a tight-knit family of firefighters and their families;
-A feeling of accomplishment and service;
-Being available at a moment's notice to render aid to your neighbors in their times of need;
-Ongoing opportunities to expand your knowledge and perfect your craft by attending regional trainings; and
-Much more!

All applicants will be required to successfully complete a background check upon application. If interested, please contact us via Facebook Messenger, or stop by our Fire station at 120 First St. Swanton, VT on Monday evenings at 7:00pm to speak with an officer. Please bring two forms of ID with you to complete the application process. Must be 18 years of age or older to apply. If you're under 18 and interested in learning about the fire service, as well as getting some basic hands-on training, ask about our Cadet program.

The Swanton Fire Cadet Program is still looking for motivated cadets to join its ranks!

If you are between the ages of 14-17 and want to become a firefighter, this is the program for you. We teach our cadets the basics of firefighting which allows them to get a headstart when they go on to get their firefighter 1 certification.

These cadets are the next generation of not only Swanton Fire Department, but the fire service as a whole. If you are interested, please contact us at the numbers below!!

We would like to say congratulations and happy birthday to (no longer cadet) Sierra! She has graduated from our program and now has the title of probationary firefighter. Sierra has been a positive influence on everyone in the firehouse and has set the bar high for the cadet program moving forward. We are proud to see you moving up and look forward to working alongside you.

Today Cadets Sierra and Elliot did some tool recognition, as well as responded to a simulated CO Alarm, which taught them the steps we take to recognize and mitigate this type of incident and how rapidly these environments change in the real world.

Awesome job cadets!

Our cadets have been hard at work training over the past few months on a wide variety of subjects ranging from tool familiarization to air packs, search and rescue, and vehicle extrication.

We are hoping to continue to expand our roster of cadets in the near future, as these young men and women are the next generation of Swanton firefighters.
