Our Story

The organization was named for our daughter Sophia. She was 3 years old when she was first diagnosed with mild/moderate classic Autism. Since then it has been an uphill battle to get her to talk. This is often the case with many autistic children. iPads have been a tremendous help to these children by finding an alternate way to learn and communicate. To date we have gifted over 50 iPads. Our younger daughter Emily was also diagnosed several years after we formed Sophie’s Promise. She was non verbal up to the age of 5. Sophie is reserved and enjoys her quiet personal time. She enjoys swimming, technology and has such a relaxed demeanor. She can light up a room with a smile and she gives out hugs regularly. Emily which we fondly call Emme has so many interests! She is a social butterfly and shopping is probably her favorite along with a good ice coffee! Now at age 11 she is talking up a storm from the time she wakes to the time she lays her head down in bed.

We've learned so many new things over the past seven years, and have met countless amazing parents , children, young adults and educators along the way. Each of them leaving a clear print in all our hearts. Since starting out with our iPad mission we have grown to offer several other services such as advocacy, sensory gifts to several local public schools, sensory movies , music and movement events, Secret Santa to local family’s, sensory field trips to trampoline parks, awareness days to public schools, surf programming, a Buddy Bench installed at a local elementary school and so much more thanks to our sponsors past and present who continue to support our efforts in our community.
