While the 2026 Mullet Parade is still 15 hours away, many of the participants are prepping for the event this evening. Chamber pup Emme is eager for her first ever parade and is busy bagging dog biscuits and sweet candy for tomorrow's drive down Corbett Avenue.

Saturday morning road closure in Swansboro.

Corbett Avenue (NC24) at Phillips Loop Road near Community Lumber to Main Street near Waterway Realty beginning at 8 a.m. until the parade concludes around 10 a.m.

NC24 traffic will be detoured onto Main Street Extension during the parade. Be patient because it's a slow crawl!

Residents of East Park Apartments, White Oak Manor and Portwest Townhomes will not be able drive in or out.

In the event of an emergency, access will not be denied.

Exciting News to Share! Friends of the Swansboro Library will host a Special Mullet Festive BOOK SALE on Saturday October 10th, 9am - 1pm at the Swansboro Library. Stop in to browse, shop and chat before visiting the downtown festival. We will be fully stocked with the best deals of the day. Remember, purchases are by donation, accepting cash or card. Keys to the 106th Habitat home Accepted

More than six months and 500 sweat equity hours later, a home was built.

The recipient of the single-family home is Tonya Kinsey who received the keys to her St. Paul’s Loop Road home in Hubert on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, in a morning ribbon cutting ceremony attended by more than 40 people.

The dwelling—the first modular home constructed by Crystal Coast Habitat for Humanity--is the 106th residence for the non profit that covers Carteret and Onslow counties. In addition to Kinsey, more than 80 volunteers contributed time, labor and experience to the project, according to CCHH Community Engagement Officer Easton Bush.
