Founded in 1970, The Swannanoa Chamber Music Festival - now the Chamber Music Society of the Carolinas - is the premier chamber music festival of The Carolinas. This year, SCMF will present over 15 events at 3 different venues during its five-week season. The Chamber Music Society of the Carolinas is unique amongst classical music festivals for its approach to performance – which values the audie
nce experience, and favors close, intimate interaction between listener and performer. All performance venues, artists, and ensembles that take part in CMSC share this common value. The caliber of musicians and composers who take part in the Festival contribute greatly to the unique and outstanding quality of CMSC: Every summer, a group of world-class musicians travel from all corners of the globe to Asheville in order to perform, collaborate, and practice their craft as part of the Chamber Music Society of the Carolinas summer series. Frequently referred to by residents and visitors as a “mountain oasis”, Swannanoa is situated in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains and is a part the Asheville Metropolitan Area. The Chamber Music Society of the Carolinas is a program of Warren Wilson College, and is proud to call the College its home.
