He wasn’t celebrating because all his problems were solved.

He was celebrating because he could breathe.

One of the men who came through our food distribution recently lost his job.

If you’ve ever experienced an unexpected layoff, you know what comes next.

The mortgage is still due. The power bill is still coming. The gas tank still needs filling. The insurance payment hasn’t disappeared. And your family still needs to eat.

The panic doesn’t come because you’re unwilling to work.

It comes because you don’t know how you’re going to make everything stretch until the next opportunity arrives.

As we loaded food into his vehicle, he repeatedly thanked our volunteers. Not because he had found another job. Not because all his bills were paid. Not because his worries had disappeared.

He was thankful because the food gave him breathing room.

It gave him confidence that he could make it through this temporary season.

It gave him one less thing to worry about while he searches for work.

His story is a reminder that most people who come for help are not looking for a handout.

They are hardworking people who have encountered a setback, a crisis, an illness, a layoff, or an unexpected hardship.

They simply need a bridge to the other side.

That is what your support makes possible.

More than food, you provide stability.

You provide dignity.

You provide breathing room.

You provide hope.

And sometimes, hope is exactly what someone needs to keep moving forward.

Thank you to every volunteer, donor, church, business, and supporter who helps make that possible.

God is not distant. He is near to those who seek Him. Anywhere, any place.

1,844 people.

When you read that number, it’s easy to move on to the next post.

But take a moment and think about what it represents.

On Saturday, the Lazarus Project served 1,844 individuals, including 361 seniors and 759 children.

That’s 1,844 people with names.

1,844 people with stories.

1,844 people who matter to God.

Among them were grandparents living on a tight budget, parents working hard to provide for their families, children enjoying their summer break, individuals searching for work, and families facing challenges most of us will never see.

And because of the generosity of our volunteers, donors, churches, businesses, and community partners, every one of them was welcomed with dignity, kindness, and compassion.

Thank you to everyone who packed bags, loaded vehicles, prayed with families, donated food, gave financially, and served behind the scenes.

Together, we are doing more than distributing food.

We are sharing hope.

Saturday during our food distribution, we gave a flower to each person who came through the prayer line.

Some came asking for prayer.

Others came to praise God for answered prayer.

One man thanked God for a job he had prayed for last month in the same prayer line. He went from jobless to providing for his family.

Another woman shared that her husband had recently passed away and that her son is no longer speaking to her. Through tears, she praised God for carrying her through the heartache.

Those two stories remind us that God works in different ways.

Sometimes He changes our circumstances.

Sometimes He gives us strength to walk through them.

Many people assume that faith means God always removes the storm. Sometimes faith is discovering He stayed in the boat with you.

I suspect there are people today who need to hear both stories:

* The man whose prayer was answered.
* The woman whose prayer is still being lived through.

One says, “God provides.”

The other says, “God sustains.”

Both are miracles.

As we handed out flowers, we were reminded that flowers bloom in every season, sunshine and rain alike. So does faith.

Thank you to everyone who allowed us the privilege of praying with you. Your stories encourage us more than you know.
